netzerovoice "locked down"

This is a continuation of an old string: »[Other] NetZero VoIP over dialup... anyone tried?

NetzeroVoice tech support is not revealing sip configuration settings so that a generic sip soft dialer can be used in conjunction with a usb handset - see reply from an email sent asking for details:

Thank you for taking the time to write to NetZero Customer Care.

Please note that we do not provide the Domain Realm, SIP proxy, Outbound proxy information. To be able to make calls using the NetZero Voice software you will have to use the Voice software.

I hope this addresses your concern.

Thanks for using NetZero.

Sincerely,

Jane Doster

- in other words, NetZeroVoice does not want it's subscribers to be able to use the voip service as a regular telephone alternative. The only good thing about Netzervoice is "crystalvoice" technology which is particularly useful for high latency situations such as satellite broadband or bad dial-up. It works great with their softdialer. I expect NetzeroVoice will eventually come out with it's own proprietary hardware which will enable them to charge more - much in the same fashion as vonage.

I am hoping maybe someone out there has a solution - be it with NetZeroVoice or some other carrier that is able to provide decent audio in high latency streams.

I wouldn't waste my time to use netzero unless it is free.
