Re: [video] Dumb Biker Sent Flying

He might have been going fast (depending on the speed limit) but how is he a DA for getting pulled in front of?

The driver of the car is at fault here.

How is he a dumbass? Quite frankly I think your post is dumb.

A car pulls in front of a bike and the bike is a dumbass, unbelievable.

That's what you get for speeding.

Speeding?

Tell me, please, what the speed limit is on that road. Please tell me... I'm very curious.

Considering the video and guessing about 50 feet from entering the video on the left to impact, he was only doing 40mph. Most roads that involve a gas station on are at least 35mph...

What sucks is that the video starts off by showing the first driver slowing down to turn, it really gives us no idea on how fast people should be going. The other cars following are only driving slow because of the accident. I really don't know if you can judge that he was truly speeding just from this video but it does seem like he was going too fast.

From the damage that looks no faster than 40 (it barely did anything to the car).. You wanna see speeding damage? look at my thread here »[video] Disturbing Motorcycle crash (aftermath)..

I agree not the bikers fault he had the right of way no matter how fast he was going.

Driver pulled in front of him another lets see if I can make it,well they did not and they guy on the bike is either dead or seriously messed up.

Dumbass?

O.k.. personal experience here. Almost exactly the same thing happened to me, and I was not speeding at the time.

Driver of the car gets out to inspect the damage that 'I' did to his car, only thinks of me a few minutes later.

Other people to arrive on the scene first checked on his passenger (she was traumatized from watching me smash into her) leaving me in the ditch like a piece of roadkill.

Just cause I ride a motorcycle does not make me an outlaw. Motorcyclists are people too!

Dumbass I may be, but I am now a rather rich dumbass. Thankfully I've recovered enough physically to enjoy
the check his insurance company sent me.

sad scene there

Clearly NOT the biker's fault, unless perhaps his headlamp was out. Even if that were the case it was 11 a.m., the car driver clearly failed to yield; probably yaking away on a cell phone too.

Every time I see one of these videos it makes me want to ride less and less; the last time was about ten years ago. Too many more drivers, vehicles AND distractions here to make riding a motorcycle a safe recreational pursuit anymore.

I can't see any noticeable braking done by the bike except in the last foot it traveled. Was the guy looking at the road in front of him? I know he only had 1-2 seconds to react, but should he have been alert enough to quickly swerve? That's why someone might consider him a "DA". But don't get me wrong, stupid driver for sure.

Was she walking through a dark parking lot late at night when she got raped? What was she wearing.... something provocative?

The motorcyclist was the victim.... PERIOD!

Exactly. It's ridiculous to see some people here trying to look at it any other way.

Braking on a motorcycle isn't as easy as just applying the crap out of brakes in an auto.

Under hard braking on a bike, the rear will come up in the air and if you decide you need to go left or right you are just about screwed.

Hard braking on a bike will bring ALL the weight on the front suspension.

Braking is an option, avoiding is another. IMO the bike in the video was planning on avoiding the car that hit him until the car that hit him turned into the his lane far enough for him to see there was another car in the middle blocking his left "avoid" route. When he enters the video he is on the "top" of the lane, basically the left most of the lane, and QUICKLY heads to the "bottom"/right lane once, IMO he sees his left lane is blocked, at that point there are options, and in that split second not many can react with the correct reaction that we can all assume by watching a video.

A biker's worst enemy: the left-hand turner.

I watched the video and clearly the driver is not paying attention to the biker. The driver is focusing on the gas pump and is casually making a left hand turn. As posted here, a biker can only look for the escape route as hard braking may not be his option. I tried to look for a turn signal but could not see any.

I could blame the biker for not anticipating what was ahead, but with a car not using a turn signal (as I am assuming), the biker had only seconds to react...

Yes, the biker is the victim here.
