| reply to Fox2 I was too quick..what I mean is that if you tell family/friends they need to update and you show them..they do (yep I learned a lot here) but I think it will be difficult to convince them to surf every day here to check for updates....
sorry my bad english

| It does but i don't know anyone who managed to updated using it. Having said that maybe the latest build has changed something

The automatic update doesn't patch the old one and doesn't remove it. It simply installs the new version in a new directory. You must uninstall the old version every time using "Add / Remove". -- You can catch the Devil, but you can't hold him long. |

| Hi WCB,
THAT is the reason I ask this, for now I told everybody I know they should be safe if they are on version 1.5 update 5 AND if they remove the older version(s).
Question is : is version 1.5 update 6 safe for a while or do we really have to be on the look-out all the time ?
Thanks

| As far as we can know and for the time being latest update is safe. We don't have be on look out but it helps

| Hi cudni,
thanks for the tip..
You know I am in belgium, and only because I found this forum a few years ago I learned about security..
1. being not native English I understand most of the topics (if it does not get techinical)
2. if Calamity Jane would not have start this Java thing, I would not even have known what it does or with version(s) I was on..
3. Most of my family/friends do not follow security boards..but I got them AT LEAST to listen to advice if I learn something important here
4. I will continue to lurk here every day and pass things on, so i guess I can say that for the time being version 1.5 upde 6 should keep them ok..
5. I do thank you for answering and I do thank CJ for bringing the whole thing up
6. I am since I found this forum fully patched, using alternative browsers, and (so far as I can tell) free of malware...all thanks to this forum
7. I will keep passing the word
8. sorry the long post and my bad english
thanks
