| You are darn right Wilkes-Barre has more serious problems.
WiFi should not be on the top of their list of things to address.
I would be surprised if anyone would even use WiFi there. The literacy rate there is abysmal as is poverty and lack of education. |

Getting rid of people sure has a nice ring to it, maybe he should focus funds on opening up more of the homeless shelters which I think he closed since somebody told me there has not been this many homeless on the streets for years. I bet, plenty of those people could want a job and would probably find plenty within public works as well.
Btw, its great to know that the same company that is forcing me and my roommates to fork over $40 a month, where did the $30 a month deal go, is going to supply the wireless. And it is probably going to be in the old section too so I won't be able to receive it from my apartment. |

They could but if you have a limited amount of cash, as most cities do, then it makes more sense to allocate that cash to solve the most critical problems first and then use what is left to deal with other issues.

They could but if you have a limited amount of cash, as most cities do, then it makes more sense to allocate that cash to solve the most critical problems first and then use what is left to deal with other issues. Ahh, the article is not clear on whether this would be paid for with tax dollars. If so, I have to agree with you there. if they want to expand internet access to poor communities the best way to do it would be through public libraries. Otherwise there are much more urgent ways to spend that money. |

You would think they would be all for pouring more money into the school system (go drive down Broad Street and see how palatial the school system building is) or hiring more cops. Nah, they just want to waste their money on an unneeded toy network. Other "cash-strapped" cities in Penna. shouldn't be making this mistake.

I don't disagree with you about people getting bought off; however, it's always best to provide proof of such.
For example, people in Chicago talk all the time about the current mayoral adminstration's "indiscretions" and yet the current administration has been in power since 1989. Granted there are current federal investigations going on; however, there's little value in saying there's corruption, but much value in proving it. (if you're from Chicago, spare me the flames - I dislike Daley just as much as the next guy).
