I think they mean free, publicly provided by the city WiFi... not random open access points being run by private individuals. But yes, you are correct in that there are hundreds if not thousands of open WiFi spots around the city... my friend had access to about four from his old apartment. |

They should focus on getting broadband to other areas of the state. Use the money to build Wifi networks in areas not served by Verizon or the cable Companies. |

| I'm picking up 3 open AP's in my area (Jamaica Plain) and picked up 4 open AP's in my old apartment (Back Bay/South End).
That said, at least we have some choice as to internet service in Boston - most anyone can get both DSL and cable. I really don't want taxpayer funded WiFi here. |
