| DSL Tweak Help Please
1. Note 1: My advertised speed is "1500 - 3000 Kb/s", and I didn't know which of these two numbers to input into the "Tweak Tester", so I used "3000".
Note 2: I know my ISP requires my connection to be "pppoe", but I didn't know if I should select "WinXPpppeo" or "routerppoe". I have both a router (acting as a switch) and WinXP (SP2). (I selected "WinXP".)

2. 3 results: 2379/323, 2316/404 & 2285/395
3.68.94.174.17 (The line quality test has taken over 1/2 hour with no results back yet.)
4. DSL / SBC Yahoo! / 2-Wire HW1000 ADSL modem
5. No PPPoE "connection software"
6. N/A
7. WinXP Pro (SP2)
8. 3008/512 Kb/s
9. Home Network (I don't know what "ICS" is, no VPN.)
10. 2 computers connected to to a Siemans SpeedStream 2604 funcioning as a switch, which connects to the 2-wire HW1000 ADSL modem.
11. 17219 feet from SNANTXBA
Additional Notes & Questions:
I already have Dr. TCP installed and have changed my MTU to 1472 and then back to 1492, based on other's advice.
Would like to know what the other Dr. TCP settings should be, specifically:
Window Scaling Time Stamping Selective Acks Path MTU Discovery Black Hole Detection
Finally, the main reason I am trying to improve the DSL line's performance is to maximize down & upload rates for BitComet and (eventually) Azureus. (Since BitComet is now banned from private trackers, Azureus is my next software.)
I don't know if the thread rules allows discussion of tweaking P2P software, but any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

| Tweaks are all correct. Have you tried a direct connection from a PC to modem to see if speeds are different? -- Write me up for 125.......I Can't Drive 55 »redrocker.com/ »cabowabo.com/ |

I someone could please address the other issues I mentioned (above), I would be very appreciative. In particular, the issue of whether to have the MTU set at 1472 or 1492. I read somewhere that packets can get fragmented if the MTU is too low, and have seen the "packet fragmented" message myself while experimenting. Yet someone else described the whole thing as "silly", and so I am confused as to what the MTU should be.
Thanks again in advance.
