Best Antivirus Program To Use?

Hello,

Im looking for a virus program that is very good to use that doesnt use up much resources? I was using norton but people said its a resource hogger. I'm needing one that protects your computer 100% and really detects viruses, I used norton and it has let viruses get by its protection several times.

So this program cleans your computer 100% and it will detect pretty much all viruses etc...? I think I used this the first time I had a virus and it never detected anything but my computer still ran slow If you read my post in the computer hardware forum Im having trouble out of a virus or HD problem right now

Nothing is 100%, your brain has to make up the difference. However, many people agree that Nod32 is an excellent antivirus program and that it is relatively light on resources. I think it's your best bet.

I would also like to ask is the security suite that comes with the ISP package any good? I heard it was a resource hogger also, I'm so confused not sure what to use anymore lol

I am only familiar with what I have used. I currently am using NOD32 + BOClean + ZoneAlarm Pro as my resident security. My experience on my Win98SE machine is that these three applications combined still use less system resources than NAV alone does. For just $118.90 you too can have peace of mind and performance.:)

I just started using NOD32 a couple of weeks ago. I never thought I would. I have to admit, I have been pleasantly surprised. I guess resistance is futile. I am using it along with free ZoneAlarm and Microsoft AntiSpyware. I can't even tell it's there. I suggest you give NOD32 a try. I think you'll like it.

There is no "best" AV, only one which is best suited for your hardware, surfing habits and personal likes. And has been stated, no AV is 100% effective. You might check out the 2005 AV poll for some opinions on the various programs available. »[Poll] Antivirus Poll 2005

Agreed...ask 100 people and you'll get 100 different answers. I'm using Avast and I like it a lot, I used to use Norton on my 98SE box and I liked that too, never a problem.

It's not about "what's the best", it's about what works for you, your habits and your computer. There is no "100%" effective if your habits will circumvent your AV, no matter which one you use.
