Speed test sites

What speed test sites do you find most accurate and consistent?
Per a good suggestion from sortofageek See Profile, also include if applicable: location, either city/state or zip code.

Please post a link to the site you prefer.

Thanks!

This is the first DSLR onsite SpeakEasy test.
When its not busy it seems to work the best for me.Then again i still haven't upgraded my old 10 WAN port Linksys router yet. When i do that my speeds should be much better.

Get these at all times of the day!
All test sites that I try(that are even semi-near to my location), I get 9000+ on download.

An actual download(s) usually levels off at ~1.06MB/sec.

Test sites are flaky... for me, but they suree look cool!

I always test here, its located at the University of Michigan, So that being said here ya go.

»speedtest.umnet.umich.edu/

And this is normally what I always test at.

running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 743.61Kb/s
running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 8.48Mb/s

Oh btw I'm in Milan, MI and the server/test site is located in Ann Arbor, MI about 20 miles from me.

I'm about 40 miles to the north of A-squared.
Using thier server ( »speedtest.umnet.umich.edu/ )
I get about the same speed results. (pic 1)

UM-Flint is just 10 miles north of me & sometimes I'll use it ( »speedtest.umflint.edu/ ) but don't always see the same (or better) results.

Another server about 40 or so miles north of me is this one ( »speedtest.mi.charter.com/ ) (pic 2)

There are others I like to test from but none any closer than the above

Optimum Online test: »ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/pub/test64
Windows XP SP2: »download.microsoft.com/download/···-ENU.exe

Those two are always enough to saturate my downstream cap, and they're always fast.

Ever single other test I can't break 3000 (My downloads show a true 8000 line)

A lot of you guys are posting speed tests that don't show your Upload speed at all.
Those aren't very useful IMO.

Eh? By my count, of 9 posts with speeds shown, 7 show the upload. What dictionary are you using for "a lot of"?
