The sticker on my modem says I should leave it on for 10 days. Will there be any adverse effects if I move it?
I want to move it to the other end of the house. |

| reply to redpanther That 10-day warning is for accounts on the speed ramp. If you are connected to an RT, a speed ramp wouldn't apply to you.
Even if you are on a speed ramp, there is no problem with turning the modem off for short periods. The worst it would do is delay completion of the testing and extend the time it took to reach full speed slightly. If any of the periodic tests are missed due to the modem being off, they are "rescheduled" by the automated testing program. |

join:2001-01-07 Hot Springs National Park, AR 1 edit | reply to redpanther Just a followup. After moving the modem to the other end of the house my line attenuation and S/N ratios were messed up. I went out and removed the half-ringer and that fixed the line and s/n ratios right up. |
