| A few questions
My girlfriend has Rogers Hi Speed Lite/Ultra-Lite and I wanted to make sure she is getting the best performance from her service. She lives in a condo and only has one cable outlet, therefore, she is using a splitter to feed her cable modem and SA3200 digital box.
1) Is there a better connection configuration that doesn't utilize a splitter?
2) If the splitter is necessary, is it better to have it closer to the cable wall outlet or closer to the tv/modem end?
3) Which modem is currently recommended for Hi Speed Lite/Ultra-Lite users? I think she has the Terayon TeraPro TCM (100 maybe) and I was hoping there were newer models available that had features like a simple router/firewall.
Thanks in advance |

| The performance of UltraLite is on a par with dialup, so if you're expecting much better, then it isn't going to happen.
1) There is a similar thing to a splitter called a tap that will provide more signal to the modem and less to the TV, but if the modem is working, then you don't need it.
2) Over this length of cable, it hardly matters.
3) Rogers is slowly phasing out the TeraPro modems and will replace it in due course. None have a router/firewall inbuilt that Rogers is distributing. Call Rogers to see if they will be replacing the TeraPro soon. The newer modems are better, but not with the functionality you want. An inexpensive router like a dLink will probably do the job for you. |
