| Major Bell Screw Up
Hi everyone,
I have been a long time Rogers subscriber, Bell Sympatico just recently became available in my area, and taken adventsage of the x'mas special, I thought I'd give it a try.
My original activation date was Dec 23.
On Dec 22. I noticed my phone line got disconnected. Called Sympatico Support, they said they were missing a line card, and told me my activation date has been rescheduled to Dec 27. However, they cannot do anything about the phone line problem and I should call 611.
On Dec 23, my phone service is working again.
On Dec 27, I didn't get Sympatico service, but I figure it was a holiday I waited another day.
On Dec 28, I called the Sympatico Support, they told me my activation date was rescheduled to Dec 29.
Today at 2pm, finally the DSL light came on. And I was like WOO HOO, but that's when the nightmare began.
MY PHONE LINE GOT SWITCHED WITH ANOTHER PERSON!
I kept getting calls asking for someone else durig the day, and finally I asked the other person what number they were calling, they told me a completely different number. Not believing, I use my cell phone to call that number and guess what? My phone rang. Then I called my own phone number and guess what? Someone else answered!
I called Sympatico immediately, and they said I should call 611 (what a surpise?).
I called 611, and they said they will fix it tomorrow.
Here is the worst part. The person at the other phone number seem to have some credit problem. And I got calls from Collecting Agency asking me for money! I kept telling them this is not my phone, and of course, they didn't believe me.
Holy Cow.

| reply to Gosok Gosok.... Wow... that's a first for me! It's one definitely for the books. I've been in the business for quite some time and I've not heard too many stories like this one!! hehehe.... (don't mean to laugh but I'm sure this will be one to tell your grand-kids!)
On a more serious note, you might want to call and ask for the Manager of a manager in 611 to ensure that the other person using your line doesn't do anything crazy with it (if they know of the switch). Might also be worth the call to place a complaint... Call it protection before the booboo is fixed, in case something comes of it. These types of complaints are needed to make liable the guys who don't pay attention when they do these setups. In a Unionized world, only complaints help clean up those who don't care.

| reply to Gosok Rocky is right..call the business office tomorrow first thing and have them put a note on your file that this screw up has occurred. Give them the exact dates when you noticed it and advise them when it is fixed. Any long distance charges or other stuff will be automatically tagged during the period if the person you speak to is smart. -- My Canada includes Quebec. |

| reply to Gosok Well yeah, I am not upset that my Sympatico activation date got pushed back (I still have Rogers active). However, my problem is, they messed up my phone line TWICE, and Sympatico would not do anything about it. They kept saying they have no control. Maybe that's true, but from a consumer's point of view, Sympatico is Bell, they should be responsible. Why do I have to make calls to correct problems that they have caused?
Today I already talked to the Manager of the Supervisor at Sympatico, and also the Supervisor on duty at 611. They assured me that they have made record of this problem, and I would not be responsible to any phone charges.
And yes, I do plan on wrting a letter to the Business Office after this problem has been resolved and let them know of the problem.
Obviously this all come down to the tech that did the job. (I happen to know his name is Ed, cuz he gave me a call when he finished the job.) This person probably works under Bell side, but he was dispathced by Sympatico. Such complication.

I kept telling them this is not my phone, and of course, they didn't believe me. Holy Cow. Gos this happened to me once, but the way it happened was that OTHER person with the bad credit just forwarded ALL his call to my number [i guess he just picked my number randomlly].
So i kept telling the collection agency i wasn't this person and they got very rude, but they didn't know i can get even ruder hahahhahahah. I even told him i was gunna personally drive down to his office to sort this out right now uhmmmmmm.
I finally tell bell about this and they immediately deactived all forwarded calls to my number. Presto.
That's what these bad credit people do, = try to avoid the credit agency. |

1 edit | I don't have a lot of sympathy for you. Considering it was the Christmas week and most business are closed or operate on skeleton staff , realistically speaking your problem was dealt with fairly quickly.
Where would you be if you had the same foul up with the provider you just left ? My money says you would still be out of service.
The switched line story won't work. Those bill collectors have heard them all. And they read the forums too. Just pay up !:D
Have a nice day -- my get up and go just got up and went |
