Use their Satellites

Even cable use's sat to feed tv to their markets. This could very well be a move that would help AT&T deliver their IPTV system to their markets and then use fiber or whatever to feed it to the customer's home with IP from there.

Re: Use their Satellites

Charle Eckmann will not sell his satellite TV company cheaply. I doubt that AT&T can afford it.

Charlie Ergen ?

I see more of an investment coming from this. They invest in echostar and then use it to deliver most of the content to the home. Using iptv to deliver only the vod.

Almost like they did with Cingular.

Didn't we discuss this some time ago ?

Re: Use their Satellites

...as I see it, the only bright spot is that it might actually spur the cable companies to seriously deploy VoIP so that they can offer equivalent packages to what a combined att/echostar could.

A good idea would be to use them for sattellite broadband, for those without DSL. Bundle it with phone and TV. Ecostar did launch a new bird not too long ago for broadband. They could do soem crazy bundle like, Phone,TV, Broadband(sat or DSL), and Cingular. Hell of an idea.
