[DISH] Losing channels do to weather?

After having DirecTV for 6 years I switched to DISH at our new home. I find that I lose channels when there is snow on the Dish. Never had that issue with DirecTV. Maybe the way my dish was set up? Anyway right now in the Chicago land area I can only get Channel 9, 11 and 32. I see the program guide but It keeps trying to find a signal. Does this happen with snow? I do not feel like climbing up on the roof to try to sweep off the snow on the dish.

They have covers and heaters for the dishes, that would probably solve your problem.

I use to have this problem at my old house. When I moved two years ago I have never lost signal because of snow. Could be the way it was installed.

I went out to look at the Dish. There is a lot of wet snow on it. Looks like it is a DVD night and wait til morning for the snow to melt off. It was a wet/ice snow fall tonight.

Get some spray on wax and spray it on the dish and rub it around if you can. The snow should then slide right off. I usually do it once a year right around the first snow fall.

Back up now. There was a lot of slush on the LNB and Arm leading up to the base of the dish. So as it slipped off all channels came up.
