I'm having a similar problem to the poster directly above me. Once I'm in the game (on Bloodhoof server) I am disconnected, though for me it's after 10-20 seconds. It's worse though, as each time I have to reboot my mode and router too!
I talked to Blizzard, who gave me a solution that works for one of my chars (Schnarl, 20 Hunter) but not for my main (Weaselle, 28 Warlock). My Warlock can never get more than 20 seconds, while with Blizzards help i can play for a while with my hunter.
I've replaced my BEFSR41 v1 router with a BEFSR41 v4, updated my Marvell Yukon nic to drivers that were released on Friday, tried a different modem (Siemens 5100 instead of the SBC delivered Siemens 4100), but nothings has worked for me.
My last course of action is to talk to SBC, and see if they will try upgrading my line from the base 384-1536Kbps, to the next level of 1536Kbps to 3072Kpbs.. but i suspect they won't, even though I'm pretty much using all the bandwith they give me.
any other tips from anyone would be rgeat appreciated. |

| reply to CharlesWonder I have the exact same problem. As of today I'm unable to connect to the game. Even if I pass the whole login/successful/enter the game stuff, when I hit enter the game, it doesn't load the game up and in 2 minutes it says disconnected from the server. There is no new firmware for my router, I have all the ports open and the same settings which were working fine 3 days ago no longer work so it must be something about Blizzard. I emailed them but didn't get a reply back. And my character is not in a city. I'm thinking to post my login information in blizzard forums to say if anyone can access my character can they please take it to an inn so at least I can get rested xp for the days I can't play. Maybe it'll fire a shot to the blizzard to do something about it. |

| reply to V10 Hi all -
I had the same problem, this is worth a try as it worked great for me.
I am using a WMP54G wireless card on a WRT54G router.
Begin with START > RUN and type services.msc Scroll all the way down double-click Wireless Zero Config and disable it.
Download and install the Linksys drivers from this page at Linksys. »www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellit···rWrapper
The setup.exe will install some files then ask you to restart. After restarting, Windows will detect new hardware. In that found new hardware dialog box, navigate to the Linksys Driver/Drivers folder and install the driver.
Hope this helps |

1 edit | reply to DarkSorcerer I had a very similar problem one time in another MMORPG, turned out the onboard nic on my pc was bad. When I checked the event log on the pc, you could see dozens of events in which the NIC disconnected, then reconnected, over and over.
In my case, installing fresh drivers didn't work, I had to put a pci nic card in the box. At first I thought it was just the game b/c I didn't notice the problem while surfing, but the game must have been more sensitive to the frequent reconnects.
Check the event log, see if anything looks out of place. |

| reply to DarkSorcerer well...changing the checksum offloading and forcing 100 full duplex lastnight seemed to have fixed the problem...
also there was a mini-patch this morning that could've contained the fix as well...I know a LOT of people are having the disconnect problem, that's what made me believe it was more of a game issue than anything else...i could've just gotten lucky lastnight and not been disconnected that last time I logged on...
After getting the patch this mornin I logged on my main in IF and had no problems whatsoever, and then played an hour without issues...going to try changing my 2 network adaptor settings back to defaults just to see if it was the patch or the settings... |

| reply to DarkSorcerer having similar issues here...in IF get killed off before everyone running around has a chance to load on the screen...diff server, have a lower level in barrens atm and he lasts maybe 5-10 min before getting disconnected, this only started ..this past friday night/saturday morn, prior to the 1.9 patching...
friend of mine whom i convinced to give the trial a shot is having the same problem. definitely not an issue on my end..nor my friends setup, BF2..we can play for 2-3 hours straight no DC's, and, never lose connection with anything else when the WoW drop occurs. |

| reply to DarkSorcerer I am having the exact same problem. I am home on winter break, and have not had any trouble prior to the break. I've only noticed this problem with WoW, and it happens at irregular intervals. Some days, it happens every few minutes, sometimes only a couple times a day. While leveling an alt, I noticed that 75% of the time I went to turn in a quest, I would be disconnected--nothing on my computer can access the internet for the next 5-10 minutes afterwards.
Patch 1.9 came out, and the DC's are about the same, but a patch to patch 1.9 came out today, and I am disconnected the moment I enter the game on some characters (only the ones that I had in the major cities, like Orgrimmar). The alternate characters in other lower-population places were able to log on fine, but I've not tested the quest problem to see if it is still happening.
I'm connected to the internet via a Netgear wireless USB 2.0 adapter to a router, which is connected to a wlan modem. I have already upgraded the firmware on the router, and downloaded the latest drivers for my wireless adapter, but I'm still having the same problem. My ISP is Fairnet.
Because it is only World of Warcraft that is causing this issue, I'm inclined to think it is more of an issue with the game than it is with my drivers. I have tried the port-forwarding with no further success.
If someone has found a way to get around these issues, I would greatly appreciate some advice. |

| reply to Lorne you mean this stuff? _____________________________________________________ There are several drivers that, if out-of-date, could cause issues for broadband users. If you need more help in locating drivers for your hardware or finding the settings listed, please contact the hardware manufacturer or a qualified technician.
If you access the internet through an external broadband modem, be sure you have the latest firmware and drivers available for your modem.
If your computer connects to the modem via USB, be sure you have the latest drivers for your motherboard or your USB PCI card.
If your computer connects to the modem via Ethernet, be sure that your network card has the latest drivers installed.
if you have a power management tab in your network card properties, click it and unselect the "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" if selected.
Checksum offloading. To turn the checksum offloading off go to start > control panel > click network connections > right click on your active network connection profile and select properties > then click the configure button at the top > under 'CHECKSUM OFFLOAD' (if listed) change it to 'DISABLED'. This will disconnect you from the internet for a brief moment. You should automatically reconnect, if not restart your machine.
You can also try changing the Speed/Duplex to Force 100 Full Duplex. This has shown to fix these types of issues as well. To do this, go into your computer properties, and then into your device manager. Locate your network card, and go into the properties for it. click on the advanced tab, and you should see a list of items. One of them should be Speed/duplex settings. Change this to Force base 100 Full duplex. If you have an older router or hub you may need to use base 10 full duplex. |

I knew someone that had this problem and it turned out updating their network card drivers to the newest version worked.
For a while, turning in a quest disconnected them (lol) |
