Your IP will remain the same unless you reboot your modem, you loose sync for longer than about a minute or two (not sure of the exact IP lease time), or your redback/BRAS (the network gateway router) undergoes some maintenance or a reboot (I think this covers all the possibilities for loss of IP). Practically speaking this can range from less than a day to more than a month. If the network operations center you are routing through isn't being expanded/rebuilt, you might typically see several weeks with the same IP.
Depending on the speed package you bought, your first hop latency will range from about 7-8 ms at an upload speed of 608 to 10-12 ms for an upload speed of 384. The latency for the slowest upload speed assumes your loop length is short and will support a fast profile. If you are on a 384 upload interleaved profile, then the first hop would be about 60 ms. Additional latency beyond the first hop, of course, depends on the routing. |
