You know, I really wish those people who think that everything that happens in life is "Orwellian" would stop and think for a second:
Google does not:
•Force you to watch 2-way telescreens •Stick you in a room with rats gnawing at your face •Require you to take 2 minutes of your time to hate Microsoft and piss on Bill Gates •FORCE you to do anything at all. If you hate them you can always use Yahoo or Hotmail
So what the heck are they talking about when they compare them to 1984? Google is no different than Microsoft was back in the early 1990s when we were rooting for them against "big bad ol' IBM." -- Rove / Rumsfeld 2008! | | G_Poobah

| "Force you to watch 2-way telescreens". No, we have the NSA, which is working with google, for that. But it's just one way, them watching us, so you are right, it's not 2-way, since we can't see what they are doing.
"Stick you in a room with rats gnawing at your face". It's not a room, it's a cage around your head. And yes, they ARE trying to force people to do that, but in due to a shortage of rats, they are using lawyers (which is much worse than rats). The end effect is you stop thinking rationally and are FORCED to do what they say.
"FORCE you to do anything". Well, technically, no-one FORCES you to drive on the roads, but if you want to get from point A to point B effectively, you need to drive on the road. Google owns the road, (search engine that counts), so yes, you are in effect FORCED to use them.
1984 is here, those that can't see it suffer from pro-corporate, anti-terrorist, anti-constitutional rights tunnel vision. | | Nanoprobe Crunching in subspace Premium join:2003-05-11 Crab Nebula clubs:

Last time I looked, google was not the only search engine on the web. I believe that Yahoo and MSN have search engines built into their site. Then, there are the stand-alone ones, like Ask Jeeves, Webcrawler, Lycos, and AltaVista just to name a few.
In fact, my search engine of choice is Altavista. I never use google. -- ============================ --Brian Plencner E-Mail: bplencnerCancer@wi.rr.com Note: Kill Cancer to Reply via e-mail | |
