Hmm, started with the now relocated Team Ecology and got interested in the concept of working with such an array of people from so many places and backgrounds to accomplish a common goal. I stuck my toes in the crunching waters with the now defunct Team Endeavor and found both the good and the bad of a team effort - Mostly good. When TE was wrapping up it's first phase, I sensed the writing on the wall, knew that I was seriously hooked on crunching, and started lurking in this and Team Helix's forum for both a good project and a good group to be with.
To me - the goal of this team's projects were the right choice and hanging in this forum felt as comfy as putting on your favorite pair of jeans. So here I am. -- Team Discovery |

| reply to babacher Back when it was still "DSL Reports" I saw the spinning thing under someone's avatar, hovered my mouse over it, and it said Team Discovery. Did some searching, found the forum, read up on it from the links, and decided, "Heck, why not" and here I still am years later. -- You get what you pay for. [PS2]Socom3: [BBR] Doc-T

So thanks for posting!
It's a good way to measure how we can step up our marketing efforts as, babacher stated.
•Do we have Team Discovery in our "sigs" here onsite? •Do we tell folks about what we do? •Did we read the newsletter here: »BBR Distributed Computing ? •Did we find us on a search engine? • Did we see the store on CafePress? •Did the "spinner" appeal to us? •Did we find us from a DC forum like Grid or Rothenberg?
Knowing where our potential new user base is coming from helps us target our goals more on seeking new recruits
Of course we can't posture outside of this forum @ BBR, but we can link in our sigs, etc.
If anyone needs help with creating a sig onsite here...just ask any of us that have one. We'll be happy to help. -- ~Cancer will not win~ Team Discovery ~ Project Hope ~ Like A Hurricane~ |

| reply to babacher I'm one of the many who started with Team Starfire over five years ago. I had dabbled in UD back then but stuck with SETI. About 18 months ago, I reevaluated what I felt my priorities were in regards to distributed computing and moved my resources here to find the cure! A little nudge from a certain lilhurricane didn't hurt either! |

| reply to babacher A very good personal friend of mine and member here turned me on to the site, and and introduced me to Team Discovery. I have wanted to crunch for a few years, but lacked the equipment to do so with until recently. My apologies for waiting so long, but I'm here now and I'm not going anywhere (except for when my wife inadvertently shuts down the computer at night when I am already sleeping.)
I'll have another cruncher in another month or so. |

1 edit | reply to babacher I've been wanting to join for a while after seeing the here on DSLR, but didn't have a computer that was, IMHO, up to the job. Now that I have a brand new, awesome box, I didn't forget about this.
It was time to do my part.
