Re: Cingular refuses to keep my old ATT Wireless p

The purpose of an unlock code generator is to unlock a GSM phone which is restricted to service from a specific wireless carrier. For example, someone wishing to switch to T-Mobile w/ their phone currently locked to Cingular would need such a code in order for the phone to work properly w/ the new carrier (T-Mo).

I don't generally recommend the code generators to folks who are not technically saavy. If something goes wrong in the process, you have the possiblity of a phone which is a brick and no longer working with any carrier.

Depends on the type of phone. I was able to Google my way to a Nokia 6800 unlock code generator.
What is the purpose of an 'Unlock Code Generator' ? What does it do and why would one need it? I've never heard of this until this forum...

Tks,
Sherri

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll shop around for a phone then. Anyone know a good phone unlocking site/guide?
