200 free outgoing minutes, limited time... I haven't tried the incoming number yet, but the outgoing seems to work fine. |

mazilo From Mazilo Premium join:2002-05-30 Lilburn, GA | Thank you OP. Unfortunately, the DID# is assigned by them and I don't see any way I can select one for my area code. |
|
DannyZ Gentoo Fanboy Premium join:2003-01-29 Erie, PA | Right, there is no option to pick the DID, but it's free. I already have my incoming all setup anyway, but this is 200 minutes outbound anywhere in the US... |

buckeyered Premium join:2005-05-07 Hamilton, OH | I have received some inbound calls and when I checked my balance it stayed the same (1.80) I haven't tried to set it up in my unlocked PAP2 that is currently set up with tetepacket but I will delete telepacket and try to set up freedigits. |

| reply to slow mo The only thing they give you is SIP credentials. It looks like completely free incoming. You don't get to pick your rate center, I got 641-982 which is Des Moines IA LATA.
I already have an unlimited incoming DID, so I don't care about the number. I just like the free outbound |

| reply to DannyZ I just opened an account. My initial balance was $ 1.80. I made 2 1-minute calls and no my balance is $ 1.74; each minute is $ 0.03 and I still have $ 1.74 / $ 0.03 = 58 minutes. So I guess I have just 60 minutes free (per month?).
How free 200 minutes work?

DannyZ Gentoo Fanboy Premium join:2003-01-29 Erie, PA | Balance $1.80? I didn't give any billing info... All I did was sign up, they sent they sent an email with a confirmation link, I clicked that, then they sent me another email with SIP info. I plugged it into the softphone, and made a call... |

  Just an Idea
@pacbell.n
| reply to DannyZ I would like to use freedigits in one of the gateway accounts of a sipura 3000. Has anyone used freedigits without specifying an outbound proxy successfully? I tried and it did not work for me.
BTW, when you log on to »myaccount.freedigits.com, you can set the call forwarding to a SIP URI. I set mine to myusername@myhost.blogdns.com and it worked for inbound calls. |

| Can't seem to get this to work with an IP phone either. I've tried plugging in the IP address for the SIP Proxy and Outbound Proxy, too. There's a dialtone but it simply roles over to a fast busy when you place a call. I'm not willing to install a softphone so I'm now sure if the Xtens softphone works.
Looking a cached versions of the Free Digits site on Google, it appears that they planned to make the service available to IP phones and adapters. The company that owns it is WebPoint Communications, LLC in Iowa--not to be confused with the company of similar name in N.C. Per a cached article in Google from the Des Moines Register, it appears to have received venture capital from 13 independent Iowa phone companies. Here's a link to the article.

Out Bound Proxy: outbound.freedigits.net
Use outbound Proxy: Default

Plugged corresponding entries into PAP2. Incoming works fine. Can't get an outgoing call yet. I suspect there is a dialling format required. Anyone who installed their Xten got a suggestion for dialling format.
Call forwarding works just fine for incoming calls. |

| reply to DannyZ Just a quick question, in theory, this should work with FWD Communicator, correct?
I don't want to install something unless there's an iota of a chance that it will work. -- $100 placed at 7 percent interest compounded quarterlyfor 200 years will increase to more than $100,000,000 --by which time it will be worth nothing.- Lazarus Long |
