Re: Wireless Bridge or Wireless AP Mode, Two WGR614???

Thank you. In summary TWO WGR614's can not be connected without a Ethernet Cable, 'wired'? Oh well, plan b to be devised and back to CompuUSA...

You can indeed use the WGR614 as a AP, as per the Netgear link your provided: but ONLY via a wired link between wireless router #1 and the WGR614 (wireless router #2) you are going to use as an AP. (You plug from a LAN port on wireless router #1 to a LAN port on the WGR614 (wireless router #2) AP, leaving the WAN port on the WGR614 vacant.) Your wireless devices will connect to either wireless router/AP, but the wireless router #1 would be the DHCP server for your LAN.

If you want to have a wireless connection from wireless router #1 to another device that second device will have to be something like a wireless Ethernet bridge (e.g. Nethear WGE101) - and that of course only offers up a wired connection to other devices. In short, you cannot connect wireless router #1 and wireless router #2 wirelessly.

I think I made a mistake in my purchase.

I bought a WGR614v6 to work as a AP. But AFTER more research, is it possible that this works as a WireLess AP? I mean I have WireLess Router #1 that provides Wired and Wireless Services to Internet. Then WireLess Router #2 would connect to Wireless Router #1 via Wireless, not Wired. Then my PC's automatically connect to the better Router depending on distance. I could live with Fixed IP if I had too.
