BF2: Special Forces

Is this game good? BF2 is quite enjoyable so I think this would be enjoyable, too. I'm thinking of getting this. Are there only night maps? Are there any new weapons? Is there single-player in this game? Thanks for the reply.

Yes, it's a good add on. There are many new weapons and vehicles. Two of the maps are night maps. The rest are day maps. Yes, there is single player.

It is VERY squad based.

You CAN lone wolf it, but I don't recommend it if you want to have fun

Try to find you a mostly full 64 player server, and squad up.

i had mayor problems with it. to install i first need to patch it. but i have 2 harddrives. C: is for windows and only has 1,5 gb and D: is for data and has gor 167 gb free space. but the patch installer first checks the amount of free space and is too dumd to check the D: . becouse the D: is for data i installed bf2 on the d: harddrive. it tries to install on the C: in a map that doesn't excists..
i gave up trying. but after all those problems its probably a great game to play online :p

Well that's odd. I have BF2 installed on E: drive w/ C: as my O/S drive. No problems here. I don't recall it trying to install on C: either.

it doesn't try and install it on your c: drive....it just checks to make sure your c: drive has 3 gigs of available space.

i had the same problem. a 10 gig partition is my "OS" partition, all my data, games are on a seperate 50 gig partition. my C: partition only had like 2.5 gigs free and i had to delete some crap in order to patch my game which is on my E: drive....stupid as hell...

I ran into problems playing on some servers with BF2:SF installed. One reason is because I patched my BF2 version first to 1.12 then I picked up BF2:SF installed it and would not connect to any BF2:SF Servers. Even though I was at 1.12 the latest patch.

What I had to do is re-install the patch because I guess the BF2:SF install messed up the patch.

Only install problem I really encountered.

After hearing about all those problems, I think I won't get it now. After I enjoy BF2 to the fullest and get bored of it, maybe then will I finally get it.:D

I can assure you that the problems described are minimal. They are covered in the installation instructions, too (yes, I ran into the challenge of not enough space on a multiple disk HD). Most people also forget that the install order (as the instructions clearly say) is BF2, BF2 SF, and the latest patch. Problems largely occur when people don't follow the instructions.

If you watch the install on BF2:SF it will patch it to 1.1 this is what drives me crazy. So this is really what screws it up why do they have that in the install is beyond me.

Yes they do need a lesson or two in how to create install packages. But once installed the game is great, I have been going 30, 40 kills and like 2 or 3 deaths for night missions

quote from ea support site:

In the process of installing Battlefield 2 Special Forces, files are moved from the CD to the hard drive to a temp environment. 2.9GB are required to move and uncompress all of these files, even though the installer may request 2400MB. When the installation process checks to make sure this space is available, it checks the partition you have Windows installed on (e.g. C:\WINDOWS). If not enough space is available, the installation cannot proceed.
