 couldnt open disk multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0). . .

i need some help i have 2 hardrives. one i used for a compaq computer and it was going slow and i wanted to put windows xp a new installation so when i go to do that the computer said

couldnt open disk multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)
when i tried booting with a cd

when i did boot without a cd it said NTLDR missing

but i fix that problem by installing windows xp on a hp computer but when i put the hardrive with windows xp from the hp to the compaq it tried to load but failed.....

i tried booting it with a cd but it said the couldnt open message... every hardrive that i have keeps recieving that same massage

can anyone help me

your mbr is pointing elsewhere as you changed locations of your disk.

Run fixmbr from a windows disc on the destination. I forget what options you need to prevent damage to the existing image but I am sure google will be great help.

Do i take windows xp cd and what do i do?because when i boot from a disk it gives me the message couldnt open disk multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partiton(1)

You really need to stop moving the HDD from one PC to another.
If you want all the same programs and files from the one PC on the other then you need to take a IMAGE of the one PC, Load that IMAGE on the other PC and then do a REPAIR install of the OS on the second PC AT FIRST BOOT of the second PC.

Moving the disk from one to the other doesn't work unless BOTH PCs have the exact same hardware install.
