Then that seems to be your problem :| If you cant configure the x-550 to be in 10Mbit half duplex support you might have some luck with a hub that can support 10Mbit half duplex and what the x-550 support, inserted between the two devices.

looked up the modem:

its a toshiba pcx2200... the specs list the port as: 10baseT; half-duplex

great idea tho, maybe i should try putting a basic 100 mbit switch between the cable modem and x550 wan port as a test, maybe that will convert it correctly?

it acts identically in either auto or 10-mbit

100-mbit it never gets an ip address from the isp

Could be an issue where the LAN port is 10Mb half duplex only, what happens if you set it to auto?

In the x550 I set it to 10, 100 and auto

it does not work at all at 100, so it must be 10

What is the speed on the WAN port of the ZyXEL device and what is the speed on the LAN port of the cable modem?

Not on RR sckramer but on cable modem (sb5100 w/ Cox). Have QoS on auto, firewall on, no entries in the basic setup and let it pull DNS and other info from the modem. MTU is at the default of 1500.

Use both the wired and wireless aspects of the modem and have not noticed any stalls or other issues. Have you called ZyXEL support to see if they can help you?

Hope you can figure it out.

Hmmm...

I tried every possible combination of settings on this router, (diff MTU settings, turn off QOS, etc, no change) even tried the 1.0 firmware, no change-- I can't get the router section to work without the stalls! the wireless and wired act the same...

I hooked up a usr8200 as the router & using the x550 as a wap for now

any ideas? anyone else using it on a cable modem & roadrunner?

Hello,

I just installed a x550 to replace an older router, the mtu of the old router was always 1500

by default the x550 is 1500, but I'm getting mtu like problems, stalled dl'ds that resume after 30+secs, some web sites acting weird or not loading...

anyone run into this? its a cable modem (rr)

thanks!!
