I am having the exact same problem. I am home on winter break, and have not had any trouble prior to the break. I've only noticed this problem with WoW, and it happens at irregular intervals. Some days, it happens every few minutes, sometimes only a couple times a day. While leveling an alt, I noticed that 75% of the time I went to turn in a quest, I would be disconnected--nothing on my computer can access the internet for the next 5-10 minutes afterwards.
Patch 1.9 came out, and the DC's are about the same, but a patch to patch 1.9 came out today, and I am disconnected the moment I enter the game on some characters (only the ones that I had in the major cities, like Orgrimmar). The alternate characters in other lower-population places were able to log on fine, but I've not tested the quest problem to see if it is still happening.
I'm connected to the internet via a Netgear wireless USB 2.0 adapter to a router, which is connected to a wlan modem. I have already upgraded the firmware on the router, and downloaded the latest drivers for my wireless adapter, but I'm still having the same problem. My ISP is Fairnet.
Because it is only World of Warcraft that is causing this issue, I'm inclined to think it is more of an issue with the game than it is with my drivers. I have tried the port-forwarding with no further success.
If someone has found a way to get around these issues, I would greatly appreciate some advice. |
