| Stupid on the outside
While it sounds like from this story they are a bunch of idiots, I'm sure it really boils down to the $$$ in this case. They want to make more money, so come up with a few excuses to cut services and save a buck here and there. A lot of users will be pissed and leave, but the ones that stay behind will foot the bill as if nothing happened because they don't know any better. In result, they make more money.

| reply to knightmb I think about 80% of Broadband users are actually people that browse the web, check their e-mail, use AOL messenger to chat with friends, play games online, and do whatever else an average family with 2 or 3 computers in the house does on the internet.
Only a small percentage actually uses usenet, and I don't know about the popularity of bittorrent, but the average user often doesn't even know how to burn a cd, let alone how to burn a movie to a on-tv-playable format or know how to unrar and crack software and games.
Most users will indeed continue to pay their monthly bill because they have no idea this has been happening. Indeed, all they want to do is make more money. And with no DSL alternative most people will just grunt a little and fork over the next bill..... -- "I'm honored to shake the hand of a brave Iraqi citizen who had his hand cut off by Saddam Hussein." - Bush, May 2004. |

| Because Rogers has, in the past few years, been getting more and more disloyal to us Canadians and yet expecting more money for doing less work.
I've been with both Rogers and Bell in the past and Rogers' is less helpful, less caring and more frustrating to be with. If they wish to keep customers, they have to work with us, not slowly push us away. |
