Re: AOL Price Going Up

Its not so much the price increase revelation than making some false statements about AOL.

And if AOL canned me there'd be a good reason. Not just for kicks and giggles. A lot has changed, people ... a lot. And if you are a "former employee", then you know why you got canned.

As far as the price increase, as it stands if you need a lower price, you can get one easily. If you are still on dialup you should be able to get the service for $17 / month. Just call and ask.

I don't believe he is a bad employee. I am a user and if an employee tells me the truth about a price increase it is a good thing. Last time I checked you get a paycheck because of the USERS. If there are none then you don't get paid period!!!!!! Also I am a dial up user as I live in an area where broad band is not available. So I get to pay more for the priviledge of living where I live? That is a crock!! Maybe you broad band users should remember that it is NOT available everywhere in the world.

Sharing of information is always recommended

It always cracks me up when someone talks about shareholders. If you got burned its your own fault, learn how to invest because no one made you to buy and hold that stock.

Additionally, the other AOL employees calling out AnonyAOL only made AnonyAOL's claims more credible. If the leak of the information was against company policy, all three of them should be reprimanded. The proper approach would have been to stay silent and try to discuss the issue with private messages.

Ah you too AOL love my job guys need to stop. AnonyAOL, did not give away secret internal information, just merely stated what was going to occur. If AOHell canned all your butts today, you would be crying how this company sucks; as it does really. Get off of your small horse and quit your bitching. Go sell your useless stock options. Get off your knees, and out from under your boss desk.

This suck a** company has misled it's investors and lied to the public for far too long. Time for it to drop in the Atlantic Ocean, and float away. Just my 2c, take it or leave it.

You have other options, the have the Netscape ISP for 10 a month, so I'm sure that probably has the same dialin numbers for all areas so that shouldn't be a problem. Walmart ISP is also 10 a month, and is very similiar to AOL.

YES I AM VERY CONCERN OVER THE MATTER OF THE PRICES GOING UP EXSPECIALY FOR US THAT CAN ONLY GET DIAL UP, CAUSE AOL HAS NOT STEPED TO THE PLATE AND SHOVED NOTHING ELSE TO US THAT WOULD PROVIDE A FASTER INTERNET NO BROAD BAND OR DSL AND AOL IS SUPPOSED TO BE WITH TIME WARNNER NOW AND TIME WARNNER IS THE SAME WAY MAYBE IF AOL WOULD SPEED SOME OF THERE MONEY PEOPLE THAT HAVE SATELIGHTS MAY NOT HAVE THEM ALL AOL HAS EVER DONE WAS UP GRADE HERE AND THERE BUT NEVER ONCE STEPED TO THE PLATE ON US DIAL UP PEOPLE NEVER AND MOST LIKELY WONT. IF MY BILL INCREASES NEXT MONTH I WILL CLOSE OUT MY ACCOUNT AND HAVE BEEN A MEMEMBER FOR YEARS IF THIS IS WHAT AOL PUTS ON MY TABLE THEN MY NEXT BILLING I WILL CLOSE IT.SURE I WAS OFFERED A $17.98 A MONTH WITH A 1 YEAR PLAN THATS WRONG A PLANE AND I HAVE BEEN A MEMBER FOR YEARS NO THANKS, AOL IS BEING RAN LIKE HITLER RAN HIS OWN COUNTRY.I WILL GET A HOLD OF THE CANTON REPOSITOY AND WE WILL SEE WHAT THE REST OF THE CONSUMERS SAY. Just received the notice from AOL about the price increase. Outrageous! (That prompted my Google search where I found this page.) Unfortunately I have AOL dial-up (from which I get frequently bumped) and, like many people, I live where no form of broadband is available except satellite, which at $60 per month isn't really an option.

AOL was already overpriced to begin with. Now I and many many people will jump ship, and join the many who have already been leaving AOL, even before the announcement of the price increase. What a stupid move on AOL's part!

You mean the black portable device? I simply was under the impression it made more financial sense to just include AOL IM in cellular phones.

Email is another issue, but given the choice I'd IM someone. Who knows... I wasn't with them at the time.

question for the AOL employees:
what was the reason for terminating the "AOL communicator" ?
i believe it was a branded RIM-950.
i heard the reason was, there wasnt enough subscribers to justify the continued operation.
i did like the communicator though, alot better than the sidekick they started offering as a replacement, which i didnt take.
i did some mods to mine, extra rechargable battery attachment, twin external antennas (recieve/transmit).
i have all the internal documents, service information, programming software, cradle jig and extra parts.
even modified some of software on the device.
yeah, those were the good 'ole days.

"The reason it was done was because alot of the bundle deals with other providers are $25.90 so...basically, you tell the consumer "You get dialup for $25.90 or get a faster connection for $25.90 (or $29.90), just pay the modem fees, etc..." and most will go for the quicker connection."

Except that reliable Dialup is much cheaper than that, if you make a modest effort to look. I pay $8.95/month for 56K without restriction or filtering with ISP.com. I don't do cable, for many reasons...

A guaranteed 1500/768k minimum (no "up to" BS), DSL connection is what I want, and there is really no good non-greedy reason why the prices cannot come down to $20/month for that service, and still be able to make a buck, without branding ads. Bundling is not for everyone and anyone.

The regional monopolies have the infrastructure locked up and governored, so I won't hold my breath. I will wait and lobby for municipal broadband development so we can get a reasonable price/service ratio, because you will never see it from anywhere else in the forseeable future. Don't count on it from AOL or the baby bells...

and I know also that there is alot more in it then just hte price. What DID I say in the beginning? I told some good things that have come along with the price adjustment which are good for members who didnt want to pay too much more for a broadband connection.

Its funny...If you are an AOL employee, that has access to this info, this would lead me to believe that you have a 9-5 job with AOL. Which means you are not only disclosing internal confidential materials without legal's approval you are doing so from the AOL corporate network. I must say, you are quite honestly trying to bad mouth the employer that is responsable for feeding you and paying for you to live. As a fellow AOL employee, I must say that quite honestly, you are one of the bad assets, that the company has, and I personally hope you realise that bad mouthing your employer to the public will have no benefit to you in the long run! How do you expect anybody to respect you as a credible source?

Grow up already!

I have the BYOA for 9.95 but I did a check today on KW price plans and it is effective today dial up is 25.90 a month now and BYOA is 14.95 (that remained unchanged), shouldnt the prices come down now for dial up. I have AOL BYOA for my duaghters (ages 6 &5) they like the Kids AOL but thats it. They are going to lose more customers by hiking up the dial up prices.
