Why are Qwest upload speeds so good?

Hi, I've noticed that among the major telcos (Verizon, Bellsouth, AT&T, & Qwest), Qwest offers the highest upload/download speed ratio in general.

It seems surprising, especially since I imagine Qwest has on average the most rural customers, where higher upload speeds could be a problem for SNR.

Any particular reason or guess as to why this is? I'm just curious, and procrastinating too.

I think it has something to do with the interleave...

Qwest has the highest interleave and fastest upload speeds in the industry!

Its because most of thier customers can only get slow downloads, so they try and make up for it with faster than average uploads.

upload of 1mb has a much longer distance, sending 1mb over the telephone line is much easier then 8mb, a ratio of 1/8
Even at 18k, 1mb is easily reachable then 1.5mb... It is designed to upload less due to marketing and to deprive you of uploading needs lol. I would love 1.5/1.0, 3.0/1.0 or 6.0/1.0 but their stingyness has caused us to crawl at 384k-608k and it stinks. I'm paying 49.99 just to get an increase of 96k from 3.0/512 to 6.0/608... I'd rather have 3.0/1.0, this bites. I'm wasting 28.00 for nothing vs the cheaper 21.99 it would make more sense.

Vin DSL See Profile was being sarcastic. He likes to throw the little interleave jab in whenever he can to stir things up a bit.
