Finally, I'm More Confused - Security Duplication

I've thought about this for some time, but I can't sort out the duplication in some of the "layers" of protection I installed on our small office network. I understand that it's not wise to run two (2) firewalls on the same computer, or to run two (2) AV programs either.

And I understand the value of using different combinations of cleaners to find the nasty stuff too.

But it seems to me, I've may have "over-done" one aspect of our security. We've installed Firefox with the adblock extension, use the MVPS Hosts file, Spywareblaster, and the Immunize feature in Spybot Search & Destroy. Last year, we used Proxomitron and IE-SPYAD and I've been considering them again. At this point, my brain fogs out since I've lost track of each function.

Do I have some unnecessary duplication in my attempts to block adware, spyware, etc? I appreciate any guidance or suggestions. Thank you.
