If it's a simple method to stop further infection, I see nothing wrong with it. Nor do I, as long as one explicitly recognizes that it remedies only one dimension of very complicated problem. That doesn't seem to be conveyed at all in the original post. In fact, my reading is that the original poster ignores every other dimension of an infection aside from returning a PC to it's original state.
