My bad, its »xeeblo.net/forums for the site. That's like the second time I've done that when talking about sites.
And whats up with your people bashing free webhosting? I mean s**t, it's like you want to pay or something. |

Forcing people to make arbitrary posts in some forum isn't the best way to retain customers and earn their trust. Establishing a reputation of reliability, value, and support is. I think most people who are serious about hosting their site would rather give their money to a host they trust, rather than not give money to a host they don't. |

What's the purpose? Posts aren't a currency in any society that I've heard of, and it obviously doesn't offset the cost of the hosting operator. Just doesn't make a lot of sense to me... -- "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." --Steven Wright |

Just doesn't make a lot of sense to me... I think they hope that the scary traffic they get with all those quality posts will cause their forum's ad revenues to pay their bills. And if it doesn't pay their bills? They disappear. If you take up too much bandwidth, storage, or they don't like your posts, your site is gone. These free-if-you-post web hosts are a joke.
If you can't stick with your ISP's included (static) web hosting, get your Mom to give you her credit card, I'm sure she won't mind spending $4/month if she really loves you. -- Give ya an example, show you what I mean: suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. |

I absolutely would not trust a free host with my data. Paying $10 per month to a reputable host gives me the piece of mind that free hosting could never provide. |

1 edit | the real number 2:
2. Forget number 1. Now go out and get a real job in the field where you want to work anyways but you are fooling around with free web hosting and other harebrained moneymaking schemes. Work very hard at first, come in early, leave late, get to know all the code, no screwing around on ebay or posting on dslr. Take initiative, make weekly reports to your boss even if he doesn't ask for them. Bring in Programming Oil (Mountain Dew, Coffee, Red Bull, little chocolate donuts etc.) for yourself and bring in plenty so you can spread it around to your co-workers... Then a couple months or weeks later when you are a superstar, you learned a LOT working all those hours it's true... your boss thinks you are the best he's seen because nobody ever sends weeklys, your co-workers love you because you feed them snacks and they think you outwork them (you did) and out-problem-solve them when you are really working smarter than they are (of course that's true, you read this far)... and so you can come in at 10 and search ebay and post endlessly on dslr. Make sure you tell your boss that are going take comp time on Fridays for nights/weekends/etc. Put your head down and work hard, but know when to ask for help. After 15 years and 5 jobs you will have a nice salary and whole different outlook on life, computers, and caffeine just in time to see your company go out of business. No sweat, take a couple months off while you put the word out to everyone you know who thinks you are smart/productive/generous and you kick back and wait for your next job and a slightly higher salary while you watch your retirement account grow to something that you thought was unreal at 21 but now you think it isn't quite enough.
Uh, you may want to narrow your browser window for that one. |
