Re: [SunRocket] Number transfer problems

My Port from Lingo to Sunrocket took only 2 months. I'm very satisfied with the time frame.

I agree with bluethunder's advice to call Vonage and find out about the # port status. I don't think you will have a problem in the end, it just may take longer than a POTS to VOIP port. It may perhaps be helpful to find out what CLEC actually received the number when you ported to Vonage. Sometimes calling the CLEC gives you additional info and lights a fire under them. When I ported from Verizon the CLEC that handled the port was Global Crossing. I called them and got status directly from them. If you find out the CLEC you had with Vonage you may be able to call the CLEC (in addition to calling Vonage) to get an update.
Thanks for your advice. I'll make some calls today.

said by RockyBB See Profileyou should not be insulting monkeys by comparing them to VOIP carrier employees. one can modify monkey behavior by providing appropriate incentives, not something with direct parallel to VOIP companies.

Was it a ported number to Vonage or a Vonage created number?
It was ported from Verizon to Vonage last year. Now I'm attempting to port from Vonage to Sunrocket which I read can be done without a problem but that doesn't appear to be the case.

You should probably call Vonage. 99 times out of 100, delayed number ports are caused by the holding party not releasing the number.

I read in threads on this site that transfers from Vonage to anywhere can take longer than POTS to VOIP number transfers. Not sure what the holdup may be, but I am sure Vonage isn't happy that you are porting your numbers from them to SR. They really have no incentive to hurry it up for you.

I initiated my number transfer (from Vonage) six weeks ago today and it still hasn't gone through. I sent an email to SR last week asking about it and they responded saying they were escalating the problem and gave me a ticket number. No contact since so I called today and the guy just said to wait and there's nothing he can do.

Does anyone have any suggestions or do I really just have to sit and wait while these monkeys punch in my number on their computers?
