If they're going to install this kind of crap behind my back, well i'm not going to buy it....I was looking forward to a good Sub Sim, guess I'll have to wait some more |

| Silent Hunter 3 uses a weaker version of Starforce with a basic wrapper not the higher strength Starforce Professional / Frontline.
All the harder core protections install some loveliness on your machine. I really have no idea why Starforce is being painted as unique in this regard, it very much is not. |

Well it's because Starforce is poorly written and caused other problems. Safedisk was written well enough to exist without the user really noticing. -- Asking those who disagree with you to find support of your arguements is like asking an assailant if you can borrow his gun. |

I know one of the devs and he's not exactly incompetent.
Most people don't even seem to realise they've Safedisc or Securom on their machines more because they haven't had the same popularity as Starforce as a whippiing boy.
Ever tried to remove SR or SD? No removal tool there.
FWIW I have had issues, these didn't relate to Starforce they related to bad coding on the part of the virtual drive. As soon as I manually removed the drivers it failed to remove properly my machine worked normally again.
A code written and delivered to you by game developers is obviously nowhere near as reliable as tools produced for the sole purpose of copying protected discs.
Nero is quite happily broken by Daemon Tools, not 100% sure about Alcohol 120% or other SCSI drive emulators but don't see why there couldn't be issues there they all work in the same way. |

Right but has any other copy protection company stooped to such lows as threatening lawsuits for criticisms of their product?
No I think people single out Starforce for a reason. Of course they were also the first (or at least the first well known) |

I'll be watching to see how this pans out. Seems kinda pointless threatening the action, though I can understand the irritation. |

Guess what Starforce came out with. They said who ever come to their office and demonstrates that it is malware will get 10k. Now who wants to come out to the middle of freaking Siberia in the middle of winter where the high for the month is -30. -- That light that you see at the end of the tunnel. You know that reealy bright one; well its not salvation. Its the 6 o'clock freight train |
