| [BT] Typical BT Download Speed
I am new to p2p file sharing.
I am currently w/ verizon DSL 3Mbps down using a Versalink router.
Using BitComet, my typical p2p d/l speed is only about 40KB/s or 320Kb/s. (My usual non-p2p d/l is about 300KB/s which is just great.)
I know every torrent is different depends on the # of seeds, etc. but is this a kind of acceptable speed on my line or is there something not right. (I have already forwarded the appropriate port for BitComet.) |

See if you have a friend with invites to a good one. Other guy wouldn't like my tracker though-enforced share ratio, but that's what keeps it good. |

But a note to the person who needed to have his question answered, upload affects the download and there is a sweet spot that will get you fastest download on these torrents. I find for Roadrunner it's 25 KB/sec but experiment for your connection. Good luck. Idea while downloading is to not upload too little or too much. You can change upload rate when not downloading. |

| Cable have this thing called download booster that gives you an extra 128k on upload so if ya max out your upload say 45kb/sec out of 384k you can still download at decent speed 300-400kb/sec. It is used to help you download faster not to mention their is less overhead as well so 2mb on cable is like 250kb/sec. on DSL, its 200kb/sec. Hence why RR user with 5mb get 600+kb/sec while DSL on 6mb see the same speed or even less on most cases 4.8mbps rather then 5.1mbps. |
