this is why The company's financial flexibility is becoming more constrained and the company does not have sufficient liquidity resources in place to meet its business and debt service requirements beyond 2006," Fitch said.

In several of Charters financial reports filed with the SEC it had disclosed that information about a possibility of being unable to continue its operations beyond 2006. |

| reply to hornetsfan31 internally, the company is not saying a word to its employees about this. I was discussing something at work last week with my supervisor and I said "what do you suppose will happen to the company in a year or two", referring to this financial dilemma.. he had no clue (or faked it very well) the company was in financial distress.
im up to date on my resumé and I have read the classifieds everyday to keep updated on whats out there, but it concerns me that the company is not keeping everyone informed. |

1 edit | Yup. It's pretty sad when the employees seem to know more about this than our supervisors or managers. Like you said, they're most likely just doing a good job at "faking it."
My resume has been distrubited. I had an Interview last week, yesterday, and one today. My job security is shakey and it's time to jump ship now before it sinks. |

Allowing AOHELL users on your network will only exacerbate many of the current problems already being experienced by Charter customers, such as overcrowded nodes, overloaded pipes to backbone networks, etc. Also, at the price point mentioned for the introductory period, even if the money sharing per customer was 50/50 (which I doubt), Charter would need to sign up well over 200-300,000 subscribers just to break even on paying the cost of the call center(s) for a year, let alone all of the other work that needs to be done over the course of a year. My best guess is that maybe 20 -30,000 might try it out but that's just a guess. |

Charter's been in financial trouble for years now. At least 6 minimum. The WI-MN-MI areas are strong financially. I wouldn't worry about your job too much. In other words, you'll probably quit or get fired before you ever get layed off. |

| reply to hornetsfan31 Charter will enter into bankruptcy and shed much of that onerous debt. When they emerge, they will ditch some of the less profitable systems, keep the profitable ones and leave note and shareholders with some nice paper souvenirs.
The fallout from this will renew the debate on how programming is priced and how big Comcast has become. Nothing will be done on either fronts, but for those who are fortunate to remain with Charter, you'll have a lean and mean cable company that will give great service and be very price competitive.
Buy the stock when they emerge. It'll be a pure asset play. |

Not really, if Charter files for bankruptcy they will lose substantially all of their assets. The majority of the Bonds, Senior lending notes and other financial instruments have various cable plants, property and other assets listed as the collateral. Filing for bankruptcy would also cause Charter to be in default /cross default per the terms / conditions and would force them to payout the entire amount of the bonds, notes, loans etc. The last part would essentially force Charter to liquidate its entire operations, equipment in order to pay them.
However, as for the buyers /exchangers of the new $450 Million in Senior Notes: They will not have any recourse against Charter per the prospectus available here: »ccbn.10kwizard.com/xml/download.···rmat=PDF |

That's beautiful, I'm running a website already with a name really close to that
They got into debt by spending a lot of money on franchises that could not turn a profit, and have spent a lot more money trying to bandage them together. Apply that to mismanagement, disgustingly huge severance packges for crooked execs, and you have the makings of a collosal business tragedy.
Unless you're me, gloating and dreaming at night of their trial by fire :-D |

Why would I invest in a company that is still largely governed by the same management and business philosophy that put it in it's current economic situation? To play the market solely for short term gain? If so that's what largely has led our economy and country to it's current job state. -- "Sir SIR! We don't use DHCP servers. We only use IBM & Microsoft servers." From there my call to tech support went steadily downhill. |
