Sure, but if you look at what current competition is: Comcastic 8mbit/768kbit no cabletv with rental = 66 Comcastic 4mbit/384kbit no cabletv with rental = 56 Qwest 1.5mbit/896kbit no phoneline = 43 Qwest upto7mibt/896 no phoneline = 54
Compare to: ATT/SBC Utopia 8/8 no phone or tv required = 35 ATT/SBC Utopia 15/15 no phone or tv required = 40
Bottom line is the consumer saves money. The wonderful thing about utopia that no one bothers to mention is that even if it totally flops and the taxpayers have to pay for it, they'll still be saving money because comcast and qwest have lowered their price (to utopia served addresses) to 29.99 for their highest speeds (not including modem rentals and phone line costs) but still you get the idea the consumer saves 20-30 bucks a month on their internet bill. The number i heard that worst case utopia scenario is taxypayers would owe about 9 dollars a month if it flopped.
Every city councilman/mayor who voted it down in their city, should feel like crap for essentially not voting to save EVERYONE in their cities real montly dollars. |
