Re: Low Prices?

Dude, where do you get your facts from? When did you start working for Verizon to know that average cost per installation is $80. If you had any kind of sense, youd know that more than 90% of all DSL installs are done by the customer... a far better number than cable Im sure.

Ive also read that Verizon has paid off the initial cost and investment of their existing DSL equipment. From this point on its mostly profit. AND how pissed off can a POTENTIAL CUSTOMER be coming from dialup if they Call for an order.. and they politely rejected? It is also explained to them that their CO is full. Yea, that really wrecked and upset their lives haha . Verizon has never quaranteed a DSL line for every American my friend. It doesnt automatically come with a phoneline.

This whole $14.95 thing really upsets the pro-cable cheerleaders. The problem for them is .. when a customer comes off dialup and gets verizons 768k, it seems infinitely better than what they had. 95% of them would probably NEVER even care to go to cable for 2-3 times the price. For the majority of internet users , 768 is enough speed. Verizon did a GREAT thing with their 14.95 package. Bad news for cable.. bad news for dialup ISP's.

I work in the industry. You?

It still remains, you have much to learn. Your posts, at best, are emotional and theory and not based on any hard industry facts. For the record, I've worked in both phone and cable and not on the telephone call centers either.

Your post(s) have so many things to dispute that I won't. But, one that stands out in my mind is the installation cost of an average of $80.00. For one, that means they can be less or more - that's why it's an AVERAGE. Second, the equipment that was put in? all paid for? lol. Ok. You think the person on the telephone doens't get paid? how about the QC departments, line techs? CO techs? you know, there are these things called labor costs and costs to more a product from order to home.

It's clear you don't know what you are talking about.. respond if you would like, but it's pretty clear that you believe you are right so I won't respond to any more of your posts.

First of all, I DO work in the industry.... where I work or what i do is none of your business so dont ask. Secondly, you pull this $80 figure out of your A$$ and dont even tell anyone where you got this information. Im sure you can email Ivan Seidenberg (Verizons CEO) and he couldnt tell you what the average cost per DSL installation is.. but miraculously, YOU DO ! Because you thought of a figure off the top of your head and typed it into broadbandreports doesnt make it factual. haha I READ in an article that Verizon had announced the current DSL equipment is bought and paid for.. but yea sure , I'll believe YOU instead .. hahahaha. If you read my post more carefully, youll realize I said CO EQUIPMENT has been paid off. Of course theres costs involved in maintanance.. but you are talking about salaries that would be paid whether theres massive DSL orders or NOT. And dont try to preach how the company is paying massive OVERTIME to their employees to handle the extra workload for $14.95 DSL lines. verizon is still to this day declaring surpluses of their outside and inside technicians.. so obviously theyre NOT overloaded.

Bottom line is Verizon made a great business decision in offering a 768k speed for $14.95.

It's aparent that you don't understand the business model of how an ISP or communications company works.

I am sure you work in the industry... Just remember to be freindly when you answer the phone, and when you are done talking to your customer you thank them for their business. You will go far in your call center job.

By the way, my source? From the CEO, I think it's you is is pulling stuff from your exit! To tell me or anyone that no one knows the cost of performing a DSL installation, well, you'd have to be smoking crack dude. To say that a corporation has not done a cost analysis on the cost of performing ANY service it provides to it's customers? You are a complete joke. Go troll off somewhere and get a life.

You're not worth the time.
