tephieOfficially Clueless Since 1984Premium join:2001-02-07 Victorville, CA | what to hey mods over I found myself using the "hey mods" over things like double posts and once because the mod who locked a thread said it was going to Verizon, but it was sent to the post jail. I don't think that it is meant for that, but how else can I help tell about little things like that? I just don't want to bug the moderators over petty things like that. -- Computer chick in training |

I don't want to speak for anyone else, but I doubt you're bugging anyone by using the hey mod button to bring notice to possible errors or misplaced info. This is a pretty big site and mistakes happen. If you feel like you're using it too much, you could always IM the person that forwarded the thread and bring it to their attention. -- Please DONATE! |

We can't be everywhere in the site at the same time, so things will get missed. Without the vigilance of members to point us around somethimes, at times some posts that need attention will get missed. Thank you! -- rm /bin/laden |

Rather then "Hey, fix this" or "this bozo is causing trouble" if you take the time to really explain why you think something needs attention and say thank you in advance I doubt if it will get labeled as abuse.
We are not moderators or hosts but we can assist them if we don't get to carried away with it. -- Out the 10Base-T, through the router, down the T1, over the leased line, off the bridge, past the firewall...nothing but Net. |

The verizon host moved the message from Avatar Help to Verizon, and then from Verizon to Post Jail (hosts can only move to/from their forums.) I corrected the first link to show the proper end.
Double posts is a good thing to Hey Mod over -- it is a moment's click and it makes the site much cleaner and professional looking. Nasty language should go, as well as illegal activities, spam, whatever. Using the Hey Mod is a training tool for you. You Hey Mod and the post is attended to -- your judgement is good. You Hey Mod and nothing happens, or worse, a host/moderator actually replies to the post -- your judgment was faulty and you correct what you will Hey Mod over. After a while all your Hey Mods will be welcomed as part of the effort to keep DSLReports the best and friendliest site on the web.
This is not to taken as an invitation to go scouring the forums for things to click Hey Mod over -- we need alert users to click in passing, not vigilantes.
Moderators and Hosts have volunteered to be bugged by users. That is a large part of our job.
As with all posts, the above is my opinion and does not necessarily reflect the position of any other Host/Moderator or DSLReports. -- Telecommunications installation and maintenance since 1966 |

| reply to tephie Well, I just try to help out when I spot things I think need attention. When I do this, I always put why in the box. I just want the site to run well and look professional....even when certain elements aren't so professional. -- Computer chick in training [text was edited by author 2001-10-04 22:09:38] |
