HGA pro 2400 OID's

I have some of these units in use. Currently I have been unable to use the SNMP simply because it didn't work at first but now it's suppose too. My MIB parser keeps giving me errors to the MIB file included, so I wondered if anyone here could shed some in site in to the OID for signal strength and ethernet statistics. I don't read MIB very well:)

Many thanks to those who can help..

GuyS asked for help Nov 2004 and no replies yet, so assume MRTG does not work at all with osbridge firmware »MRTG and OSBridge

Can you kindly try windows command line snmpget?

Thanks for noting my confusion but a public post will help me and others.

Does MRTG/PRTG SNMP work with the current osbridge firmware for RTL8186 radios? Any URL for good MIB file?

I use prtg with the 1100 series radios and our star AP's. Of course prtg makes you manually enter oid's since you can't import MIB's. So I have been using MIB browser that I found on download.com to read MIBs. For some reason the browser won't read the file, it gives an error about it expects a different line first. I have tried to play with the file to get it to read with no luck.

I believe that the enterprise I'd is different on these new units but I don't know if the rest is the same.

Rich, please post the oid's here for others to have for at Least the ones I asked for. It could help more people then you think later

Thanks

I also tried with different MIB browsers and failed. Here is my manual MIB parsing attempt:

osbridge OBJECT IDENTIFIER ::= { enterprises 19025 }Obviously .12350. changes to .19025. for xl radios.

OID prefix .1.3.6.1.4.1.19025.1.1.2.2.1.1 goes to sysConnMaster table where SigQuality .4 and LinkQuality .5 entries are same as before.

Other available entries are SigStr .3 TxPack .6 TxByte .7 RxPack .8 RxByte .9 OperRate .10 Auth .11 Timeout .12

I tried a couple of those OIDs and they didn't work. i still can't walk these radios either to find much. It seems as though they time out after the first 15 or so hits. I wonder if maybe my CBQ rules are getting hit or something. Maybe even layer 7, but my other radios respond just fine and they are on the same subnet so I wouldn't think that would be the problem.

You can try a radio connected to laptop. Do a clean power cycle, wait 10 seconds, then do commandline snmpwalk or snmpbulkwalk. Let us know what comes out.

BTW, I finally found official osbridge support site in poland where a site admin once wrote "documentation? yeah right" on a SNMP related post.

So i tried to type snmpwalk and snmpbulkwalk in to my XP command prompt. Can I guess this is a linux function, since my computers say that it's not a recognized command. Or am i missing something there??

snmp commands will be available if a tool (or you) have installed net-snmp in a directory like c:\net-snmp

1. PRTG (»www.paessler.com/) had a built-in SNMP debugger that used to show you the requests step by step. You have to download the free version and check if it is still there.

2. cacti ( »www.cacti.net/downloads/docs/htm···ows.html )

and many other tools use net-snmp

A brand-new SNMP tool born yesterday - raises trojan horse warning flags. I wonder why SNMP-Probe is not listed at the »www.net-probe.com/ site of developer Warren Flemmer.

Warren himself checks out OK. He is an IT guy in South Africa with a track record of posts in relevant forums.

maybe thats because it has its own web site...

sorry if the first link didn't pass your muster. but maybe you should research a bit before you jump to conclusions.

here's the whois information for it:

I say research a lot and arrive at a reasonable conclusion.

»www.snmp-probe.com/ was the first URL I typed and the page was not found.

I do see the domain was registered on Jan 11 but possibly the web hosting was finalized very recently.

My gut feeling will be to avoid such binary downloads - no offense intended to you or Warren.

To those it may concern, I finally get my MIB parser to read the file by adding

OSBRIDGE-MIB DEFINITIONS ::= BEGIN
to the first line of the file.

In addition since I now have the OID's that no-one (Osbridge or Rich- HGA) had provided after asked. I still do not have SNMP functionallity out of the newer 2400 pro units. I would love to have a reason, since it is suppose to work now. And possibly confirmation from others that it does indeed work in Client, NAT router w/DHCP server on wired side side mode.

I should state I came up with, or my parser did and OID for signal strength

.1.3.6.1.4.1.19025.1.1.2.1.3.0

it gave me a value of 0 in the above client mode. I am not using mine as bridges. I know the old 2400 worked fine as a bridge but in NAT router the SNMP was broke.

I second that opinion. Downloading unknown files that are executable could be disastrous??

What firmware level are your 2400 b/G radios at? The current firmware set is 1.10

Take a look at the change log below and see if you fall behind the SNMP fix.

2005-11-28 Version 1.07R4

* Fixed problem with NAT Router mode not working correctly.
* Fixed problem with WEP encryption not working in WDS mode.

2006-01-04 Version 1.08R

* Fixed problem with SNMP not working properly.
* Added MAC Address Cloning option where device operating in bridge mode as Access Point Client will use first MAC address seen on ethernet port as its own.
* Added Default Password setting which is used to reset device to factory default settings using OSReset software.
* Added concurent DHCP server/client option where in Router/NAT Router mode OSBRiDGE 24XLG device uses DHCP client to obtain IP address for the wireless interface, while providing DHCP leases to clients on the wired interface at the same time.
* Added WPA/TKIP authorization support.
* Added TFTP firmware upgrade support. You can upgrade the firmware using TFTP client that allows configuration of remote filename (»www.winagents.com/downloads/tftp.exe for Windows or generic Linux tftp client). To upgrade the firmware using TFTP from Windows box please use following command at the command prompt:

tftp -i -s -t60 PUT _

For authorization purposes admin login and password are sent as remote filename with '_' between them.

2006-02-22 Version 1.09R2

* Fixed problem with fixed data rate settings not working correctly.
* Fixed problem with PPPoE packets not being forwarded correctly.
* Added support for Radius Server Authorization.
* Added support for PPtP Client Authorization.
* Added Wireless MAC Cloning option.
* Fixed OSReset support.

2006-02-25 Version 1.09R3

* Fixed error where device operating in router mode rebooted frequently.

2006-03-23 Version 1.10R

* Fixed problem with firewall not working correctly in bridge mode.
* Added support for synchronizing system time with remote NTP server.
* Added support for user selectable ethernet port speed.
* Added built in traceroute command.
* Added built in ping command.

Also, since 1.09R3 firmware you can get the signal strength using linux command:

snmpget -c -v 2c enterprises.19025.1.1.2.1.3.0

and for example to read number of rx packets:

snmpget -c -v 2c enterprises.19025.1.1.2.1.9.0

For best technical support, e-mail us directly with concerns. I don't watch this forum for weeks at a time when traveling on business and posts can easily get buried.
