More than my gas & electric bill, phone bill, or water bill (more than my broadband bill too). Way more than the bill for anyone who would receive utility subsidies. -- ISCABBS - the oldest and largest BBS on the Internet telnet://whip.isca.uiowa.edu Member: American Association of Geographers, American Geophysical Union, American Water Resources Association | | thender2 Glamour Profession Premium join:2004-05-16 Staten Island, NY

It would take a long time to install FIOS in an apartment building, especially to every room. Same with condos, especially considering the disturbance it'd cause among residents that could care less about FIOS. With a house, it's obvious the person living there wants it and that no one else will complain, and that it won't be too tough a job, and houses are usually owned by well off people(not the kind of person who lives paycheck to paycheck, which you are more likely to find in an apartment), which is why FIOS gets installed into so called affluent homes. -- The Problem With Music. The ONLY broadband plan we have, is those made by the telephone companies and the cable companies. And we all know what their plans are. No real broadband plan, but a definite plan to get as much money from users are possible without delivering anything. (And lobby the FCC that they do care about the users and deliver the best speeds and technology.) Sure, wow. A big speed upgrade to 6meg down and 768k up when many other nations give 30meg plus for much less money. We are SO far behind the rest of the world with broadband plans and technology. Why? Because there is no incentive to the industry to implement them and I don't care what anyone says. There is no competition to drive anyone to upgrade and deliver "bigger, better and faster." And as long as lobbying is allowed and accepted, there NEVER will be anything big. Oh, you say FIOS? Notice that is ONLY delivered in markets where the population makes a shit load of money. Not to "common" people. Oh wait a minute, I almost forgot. The government ONLY cares about the rich. Not middle and lower class. I agree with most of this, I don't believe only rich people are getting it though, but I could be wrong. | | Dominokat "Hi" Premium join:2002-08-06 Boothbay, ME clubs:
