I just bought a Belkin Wireless Router (F5D7230-4) and tried to install it using the CD. When it searches for the router connectivity, it doesn't find it. It says to call customer serivice and say I have a "Problem Connecting with the Router." However, I called and I was put on hold for WAY to long. My mom's bday is today, and I wanted to burn her a CD, so I need to do this fast! A Belkin Wireless USB adapter is installed on the other computer. Anybody know why it can't connect? Thanks!

First, please connect to the router using Ethernet, and forget about setup software. Never do wireless setup without an Ethernet connection. •Making changes to a router thru the WiFi connection will sometimes make the router restart. If you make changes that affect WiFi connectivity, you can end up with the problem that you're having right now. •You don't need additional software to access a router thru its interface; your browser can do that just fine. Some router setup programs may even install software that you don't want or need. Just run the setup using the router interface, connected using Ethernet. •And remember to configure security before turning the radio on. You don't need your neighbors leeching your service. Please read my article for additional information:»nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/11/s···essPoint It's very possible that the radio portion of the router is off until you connect by Ethernet, and intentionally turn it on. That's a procedure that has been badly needed for a long time. -- Cheers, Chuck MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] PChuck's Network |
