[DW7000] Help! Upload down to 20...

I've averaged in the 150s upload for the past couple weeks. About 2 days ago, my uploads started averaging in the 20s. DWay 1st level had me do a couple non-sensical maneuvers and then gave me a case number for engineering with the promise that they call me in 2 to 3 business days. Anyone else on AMC9 1370 seeing this? Downloads are consistent with moving average (blazing fast during day, 300s at night...) Any help much appreciated!

LOL, believe it or not, I was just starting this same topic but I accidentally closed the browser. I have the same problem as you, for about a week and a half, my uploads have sucked. No transmission errors or anything like that. Xpol at 74. Everything else is normal, but uploads have been pitiful. I still have the 256k 4/5 tc rate code too. I dunno....

Sorry it's hitting you too, but glad I haven't screwed anything up on my end. I also have 256k 4/5 tc rate code. Errors have been higher than normal. Where do I find Xpol? Is it on the advanced page?

Thanks,

Yep, look for ACP statistics. It will be your "Last Validation Isolation." If it says zero, don't worry, just means the modem has been restarted recently. I don't know what the deal is.

It is indeed zero. I restarted my modem earlier thinking maybe that would help...

I've been told twice over 3+ years that they'd call back within 3 days. The first time, they called back on day 2. The second time, when hour 72 arrived and they hadn't called, I was on the phone with my case number in hand. I was prepared to call every hour on the hour until I talked to engineering. Luckily they put me right through on the first call, and he talked me right through the problem.

If they haven't called you back within 72 hours, you need to be aggressive and hold them to the committment. Keep calling until you're satisfied. I can't believe the number of people I hear that say "they never called back within 3 days". And you did nothing about it?!!??!! Good luck.

Alden

Just so ya know yer not alone... I have noted slower upload speeds over about the last week as well, went from ~200 to between 50 and 150 on average mid 60's. I did a lot of testing tho and found that the speeds varied from one minute to the next, also the speeds from MyDirecway tend to be about 1/2 those indicated by Testmy.net.
I had the high transmit error rate as well however that cleared after forced ranging into rate code 256 2/3 TC. Apparently the higher rate code of 256 4/5 TC was a problem at that point. I have since ranged to rate code 256 4/5 TC with no increase in the transmit error rate except when the weather is bad.
I think DW is doing a bit of tweakin in AMC 9, at least I hope they are, in any case my speeds are back up this morning at My Direcway I have ~950 Down and 180 up, I havent run testmy yet but if past experience is any indication i can expect the results to be from 1.5 to 2 X higher than the MyDirecway.

Same satellite but different transponder. I too have noticed over the last several days that speed tests from MyDirecway seem to have slower test results than Testmy. I would normally expect that to be the other way around.

Yesterday, the installer that Engineering sent was here to check my system. Finding nothing else wrong he replaced all of the coax just on the possibility that there might be a problem somewhere. Signal strength of 81 and Xpol of 77 stayed the same. My downloads are consistently at 1000 but the uploads vary tremendously. With the installer watching my uploads would run 150, 170, 24, 199, 140, 19, 203, and 21. When he called his support number he talked to a less than friendly tech that just told him that the speeds were going to vary, what did we expect? Needless to say the installer was not very happy with that answer. He took a copy of my speed test to go talk to his boss about it and see if they could get some help.

While waiting to see if they can come up with some answers I have called support back and I am now waiting on the famous call back from engineering. Last time they called back on a Friday night at 10:30PM. We will see what happens this time.

Same thing here... I opened a ticket with tech support and got escelated to tier 2. They told me to do speed tests for three days (using the Direcway site) so that engineering would have the data they need! Amazing. I was hoping for a move to a better sat or transponder (with less traffic) but it appears that the upload issue is unrelated to traffic. Hope they get it resolved soon.

I'm also on AMC9 1390. Early this morning it was really fast. I was off all day and got on sometime after 6 pm and it was slow. Everything looks good. I'm at 256k 2/3 which is as good as I get and I'm fine with it. Signal strenth and all that is same as usual. But download and upload speed are cut in half.

I'm still slow. I got 119 up once, was suspicious, reran, and got 19 up. DWay speed also indicates low 20s up. Down speeds status quo, blazing during day, cliff is at 5 p.m. eastern. Not sure but what this is DWay induced. It's too sharp a cliff (900s to 300s and you can set your watch by the slowdown). I always laugh at conspiracy nuts... but the truth is out there... Think I'll call up with my case number tomorrow. I'm about half convinced that I'm going to get ambiguity though with others seeing the same thing. I'm sure I'll get some facet of "it will get better..."

Start recording the speed using Direcway's speed test. Apparently they want you to prove that you're actually getting the slow speeds. While I was ok at 6 pm, I'm crawling again. I'll try to play the 'switch me to a better sat/transponder or I'm cancelling' card (still within the first 30 days) but doubt it will matter. Very frustrating...

Hey Alden, why the hell should I have to keep calling them? I'm paying them for their service...I guess I have this thing, if someone says they're going to do something, I expect them to do it..I know, silly me...

No one said you had to keep calling them. Wait for them to call back and enjoy your system while you wait. Or you can always just cancel and go back to dial-up.

You keep wanting to make Direcway something that it isn't. A good analogy is the difference between a reponsible adult and a 13 year old kid. You want DW to be the responsible adult. They're not there yet (dunno that they'll ever be.....some never make it). DW is the 13 y/o kid. Not bad....usually a pretty good kid. But you've gotta stay on their ass to get them to get things done. They usually get it done....eventually...if you keep after them long enough. Only thing is, you can't cancel your 13 year old.

Agree with Anectine17 here. All I want is my uploads back where they were a couple weeks ago, that is in the 100s. I've come to temporarily accept the evening slowdowns. Most of my family's use is not during the evening anyway. I'd like them to get it smoothed eventually though. I wish Scapla luck with the bird change. I couldn't get it done, but as we used to say in E. Texas, maybe "I didn't git ignert enough" (sic). DWay for all its faults is huge better than my old dial-up. These are the only two options available.

Uploads now averaging 10 to 15 consistently through peak and off-peak times. Something is wrong. Attempted to call DWay this morning with my case # for 2nd level and was told "engineering doesn't work weekends. Then the guy proceded to attempt to convince me that 10 up was probably just a peak hour thing. I had him look at my speed tests to convince him otherwise. He indicated that engineering will call Monday... sometime. Anyone else still seeing this slow upload on 83 West?

Thanks,
RL

Last night mine were so bad that most of the time the Direcway test would just error out. The one that did run was a 7. Today I am back to 180-200 according to testmy. When this thing decides to run good I try not to run too many tests through Direcway. They like to use that against you... like the peak hour excuse!!
