My Blog in IE vs Firefox

First, could you guys confirm what I'm seeing on my blog (described here).

The main link to my blog: http://dfwdraco76.blogspot.com.

Second, if you guys see the same thing I'm seeing -- can you tell what's wrong and how to fix it? Today is the first time I bothered to look at it in IE, and (unfortunately) IE users make up about 80% of the hits on my blog.

Thanks for your help!!!

»dfwdraco76.blogspot.com/2006/02/···-ie.html is ok in Maxthon (which uses the IE engine) and »dfwdraco76.blogspot.com/ is messed up.

If I look at the problem view, it appears to me that if you would draw a line down the right edge of the main content, it would overlap a couple pixels on the right sidebar. See if making them a few pixels narrower fixes it.

If not, I'm sure a CSS guru can pinpoint the problem.

It's the TickerFactory picture that is causing IE to stretch that column out and push everything on the right side to the bottom.

Notice that specific post has the problem: »dfwdraco76.blogspot.com/2006/02/···ght.html but any other post does not: »dfwdraco76.blogspot.com/2006/02/···-ie.html

I noticed you have it on there more than once.
They are each 420px wide while all the other pics max out at 400px. Try changing their widths to 400px and I am sure that will solve that problem. It just depends on how they will look... 20px shouldn't be too bad.

thanks for the feedback!

It's a template, so beyond some simple tinkering, adding links, etc., it's over my head.

And the image from tickerfactory.com comes straight from there. If that's what is causing the problem I guess I'll just take them off. I guess I could try to resize them.... but I'd rather not have to keep doing that every Friday when I post a new one.

EDIT - so why isn't that causing a problem in FF?

Ok, I removed both the tickerfactory.com images and it looks correct in IE again.

Thanks for catching that romanysaad! I still don't understand why it was a problem in IE but not FF, but whatever--it's not that big of a deal. I just won't use them any more.

I was wrong; it's not fixed. I swear it was for a while, but it's back the way it was again.

I'm having a really bad night as it is... I'm not going to mess with it any more tonight. But if somebody sees anything else wrong I'd love to hear about it!

Thanks...

This time it looks like the blockquote with the teacher's e-mail is doing it.

I think that IE considers "width" to mean "min-width" so that it will stretch the width of a container if it's contents are wider than it. Firefox does not, which I believe is the correct behavior.

I took off the block quote and it's still screwy. Any other ideas?

Thanks for your help!

»dfwdraco76.blogspot.com/2006/02/···ile.html
»dfwdraco76.blogspot.com/2006/02/···las.html

Those two posts are stretching out the width now because of long URLs that are not line-breakable (if that is a word).
The posts look fine by themselves because, apparently, you use a smaller font when someone clicks on a post.

You can tell which posts are causing the problem because the line on the right side will be misaligned where it intersects with the line on the top.

Thanks, I've fixed them. What a pain in the ass IE is. I wish I knew how to fix my template so that wouldn't be a problem any more!!
