| [SunRocket] CS Sandbagging Activation Promise
Called today to add a Signature Number to my account and was told it would take 16 business days to set up. Afterword I logged into my account, 1 min. after the call, and the number was set up and is active. Guess they've gotten burnt too many times recently on making promises. -- Leave It On! |

| It should work right away if you are calling from a SR phone because the call won't have to be routed through the POTS network. As for how long it takes to be set up to accept calls from regular POTS lines depends on the clec. |

| reply to dbwilson Same here, when I signed up (2 weeks ago), I did not choose a Signature Number, but later that night I called CS and they added a Signature number (I got to choose) and it was live and working in a few minutes.

| Is a Signature number the same thing as a virtual number? If so, I'll relate my experience to date. Was your virtual number working both ways - outgoing and incoming? I received my kit from SR on Thursday, and outgoing virtual # worked as soon as I connected the wiring and Gizmo, but I'm still waiting for incoming service. Trying to call in gets a rapid busy signal. And, caller ID is not working yet; SR CS told me it could be up to ten days before all features would work - and that being the reason they told me not to cancel my landline service yet. (this isn't about number porting). For number porting, it may take 20 - 30 days, I'm told. I'm not doing that until I am sure I wish to retain SR. |

| From the SunRocket General Questions section of their website:
Why can't I receive inbound calls immediately after installation? In some areas, inbound calling is not available up to 10 days after you have received your equipment. This delay is due to the time it takes to activate your new phone numbers. »sunrocket.com/support/general/#installation
Edit: I was adding an additional Signature number to my existing account, which has been in service for several months. -- Leave It On!

| reply to MAYBE SR I think it has to do with the CLEC that will handle your number. My incoming was working 5 minutes after sign up and incoming was working when I received my ATA (innomedia).
My understanding is that some CLEC's are very slow in adding numbers to their systems and thus the delay.
My Primary CLEC is either: PAC - WEST TELECOMM, INC. or XO CALIFORNIA, INC.(XO Communications)
My "Signature" CLEC is either: GLOBAL CROSSING LOCAL SERVICES, INC.-CA or LEVEL 3 COMMUNICATIONS, LLC - CA
I don't know how to tell beyond that, which one is specifically handling mine. These are before I port my home numbers.
Hope this helps.

| Five days into the service, and I **NOW KNOW** - SR sucks. Besides the CID non-action (which they said may take up to 10 days to get activated, so that's not argumentive), I am having to reboot the Gizmo every other day - whenever I choose to go out, when I get back, the "run" light is red, which means I have to reboot the system. And who knows what calls I've missed, as they don't have failover to cell - just to voicemail? (which mine isn't working as yet). My cable is Comcast, and no, it's not Comcast, Comcast does not have outages like this - maybe once a year or once in two years, but definitely not every other day. THAT SUCKS!! I mean, you constantly have to keep one eye on the Gizmo to check for failures; this is reliability? Not in my book.
Ok, I was trying to get something for nothing, I was looking for something cheaper than my landline; I found it, but it is not relible like Verizon. To me, it's worth the other $20.00 a month for the reliabilty of service. I tried VoIP, and it is defintiely NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME!
Also, the Uniden DCT-646 phones that SR gives you when you sign-up, which I thought was so cute? They're pure junk: if you have little itty-bitty fingers, maybe you can work the buttons on them, but the sound quality (incoming and outgoing) REALLY SUCKS - LIKE TALKING IN A TIN CAN!!
Their Customer Service email, which is manned every day, and a reply is promised the same day - two days later, and still waiting fpr a reply The Customer Service phone number? It's manned by Habib, who doesn't understand English.
If you have no life, nothing to do, get SR, and sit and watch the Gizmo all day to catch when it goes out of whack, then you can reset it, and wait again for it to go haywire. What a life! |

| reply to dbwilson Re: [SunRocket] Primary and Signature/Anywhere Activation
Numerous prior posts address the situations of immediately active SR#s verses delayed activation (of a week or more). Check out »Incoming Activation
Campmaster - If you post the Area code and Exchange (NPA-NXX-#xxx) and the first digit of your four digit phone numbers representing your Primary & Signature numbers, one of us can easily provide the CLEC for each. Or you can go to »members.dandy.net/~czg/lca_prefix.php and check for yourself. Please note that many numbers are assigned in blocks of 1,000 (rather than blocks of 10,000). So check the Area Code (NPA), the Exchange (NXX), and the first digit of the phone number --- which will identify the CLEC. For example, 973-557-9xxx is from Focal Communications/BroadWing whereas 973-557-4xxx is from Level 3 Communications (even though both have the same AC/Exchange). |
