Re: Erase program from CA

Although the very latest version of CCleaner does offer "Secure Deletion" (Options/Settings), it only has a maximum of seven passes - that might be good enough for you, it might not. (The previous versions didn't even offer that - they simply deleted.

Might want to make sure you don't install that Yahoo toolbar with the latest v.1.27.260, too.

I much prefer CleanCache v.3.2 - it has up to 30 erasure passes available: »www.buttuglysoftware.com/CleanCache3.html (of course, you've got to have the .Net Framework installed, too - I don't know what OS Kanebreak is running, so it might not be suitable for him/her).

It's "Donationware", meaning you can either get it and use it for free - or give a donation to the developer.

I got a email the other day offering this program for free. I have never heard of this before. Has anyone here used it and is it safe?
Unless you have a prior business relationship with CA where you use their products and they send you emails, I would simply delete that email.

If you want an eraser. Try the product by that name. It seems to work, and as of yet, I have no reason to believe that it is not "safe" when used as directed.

another similar product that may now "erase" files is CCleaner. It is reputed to be "safe" when used as directed.

Didn't see it listed at CA's Website. Caution is advised.
