| I just ordered Earthlink DSL I have a couple of questions ... Is there any benefit to using the direct access software ? I use Outlook Express for email and news , and I don't want it changed in any way . Any suggestions ?
I use several security softwares that I find to work very well. Will I have conflicts if I allow Earthlink's security software to also run ?
Thanks for any advice . Becky

| Re: I just ordered Earthlink DSL You do not need to install any software to use Earthlink (Dial-up or ADSL) and if you already have programs that you use for email and for security then you should stick with what works** for you (**as long as that means you are running a Firewall and Anti Virus software that is updated and active). You do not have to place the Total Access CD into your PC at all. I never have.

| I'll take Doc's comment a bit further -
There have been any number of posts over the past couple of years that STRONGLY suggest you NEVER install the software that comes on the CD. Some people have had their PC's software corrupted due to conflicts, etc.
Your best bet is to make sure you don't connect your PC(s) directly to the dsl modem - get a firewall/router first.
