Absolutely. We've already seen that the cable companies in particular are uneasy about the increased amount of VOIP traffic on their networks, and this is only because VOIP detracts from voice services that they are trying to promote. DirecTV VOD will not only detract from the cable companies core service (providing video), but could also cause them serious network congestion problems if use gets too widespread. I normally think that the cable companies complain too much, but I think this time they would have valid grounds. |
