"Pinnacle will deploy the company's FiberPath 500 system to 1,800 customers in its Lavaca exchange. The GPON system offers 1.2 Gbit/sec downstream and 622 Mbit/sec upstream bandwidth for the delivery of advanced voice services, symmetrical high-speed data service, and Internet Protocol TV (IPTV). The system is fully compliant with ITU FSAN standards."

See lots of ONTs (that is what Verizon calls the boxes, not sure if they are the same thing in Lavaca) going on the sides of houses all over town with orange conduit leading to them.
Not sure about the symmetrical internet service, though. A while back, I talked to a Pinnacle tech and he said that the speeds would be 5 mb down/1 mb up...but that was a while back. May have changed their specs by now. Depends on how much the Gibsons (phone company owners) want to spend on their backhaul. |

| reply to dadkins Pinnacle is the NW Arkansas company, headed by J.B. Hunt. I assure you that deployment will be in NW Arkansas and in areas where there is money to be made. Most of the state can forget it.
It is a lot like cable TV. Much of Arkansas will never have it because of the sparsely populated areas. |

Hunt does not own Pinnacle Communications in Lavaca. I personnally know the owners. You must be thinking of another Pinnacle. See »www.pinncom.com . They also own the phone system in Panama, OK. Funny thing is that they haven't updated their web pages reflecting the new service. I think the last web person they had only worked on the pages in her spare time. |
