Option to archive and save all IM's in your IM history

How about an option to archive your IM History into a html file for immediate download and then the file is erased after the file download is complete?
Then maybe a next option to allow the bulk delete of your IM History should you chose.

Currently I copy and paste my IM History into Word which gets tedious if I don't do so for a couple months.

I think it would be a good option.

Question, why would you want to archive your IM history? I guess nobody has ever sent me an IM I thought was worth keeping so...

I guess I do a lot of IM's that would be off topic had I replied in a forum.
A lot of them are technical in nature.
I can average upwards of 600+ in 4 months time.

I've archived mine manually since I became a member.
The archives I've created have helped me help others many times by recalling info from them.

Why archive them? Just leave them on the server. They're searchable and take up room on somebody else's drive, not yours.

At some point... maybe something like six months, the older IMs start dropping off the radar. I remember reading about that some time ago. So if someone really wanted to permanently archive every one of his/her IMs, offsite would seem to be the only way.

Well apparently there is a site bug where some saved IM's can just disappear, so I would see why someone may want to use a feature such as this.
