[OOL] Wireless Speeds

My area has recently been upgraded to 15/2. I checked my speeds on a wireless laptop through a linksys router wrt54gs and a webstar modem. I am getting downloads of 6-7 mbps and uploads around 1.5 - 1.8 mbps.

I am tweaked at 128480, defaults, 1500, etc.

Do these speeds seem to be in line with 15/2 considering I am on a wireless connection as well as a router?

Many thanks.

No, you should be able to push the full wired speed on a WRT54GS while wireless.

Do you have a wired computer? What do you show for speeds?

Hi Geek NJ.

I have a wired computer and am getting 8.9mbps down and 1.7 up on a fairly regular basis.

The wired computer is tweaked at 65535, defaults and 1500, etc. I haver never been near 15/2 yet.

What do you think?

I think even with stock Linksys firmware, if that is what you are running, you should push higher speeds. I use third party firmware on my WRT54G.

What does the OOL speed test show?

The OOL speed test shows 850KB/sec. Occasionally I get up to 1.2.

I don't think I have ever updated my Linksys firmware.
