To all,

Our network support team is aware of some capacity issues in the West Bay area of CA that is affecting some connections - especially during the peak hours of the evening. These teams are working to add additional capacity as quickly as possible. We don't have an exact date for when this work will be completed but we are working as fast as possible to get this issue resolved. As soon as we get any new information on this issue, we will post an update for you.

The areas that are being affected by this are as follows:

Half Moon Bay
El Granada
Montera
Moss Beach
Princeton
Miramar

Please let us know if you have any questions.

It isn't just the west Bay Area. I live in East San Jose and am using Comcast "high speed cable" for my job as a medical transcriptionist connecting to the University of Wisconsin Hospital to download voice recorded Dictaphone files. I am paid by the line. Lately download speeds have been about 16 kbps to 50 kbps during the day and into the evening. This is totally ridiculous! Out of an 8-hour shift, I find myself sitting watching my computer over half of the time, doing nothing and making no money. I have just moved back from Las Vegas, where I was using Cox Cable, and it was fantastic. Download speeds were consistently 450 kbps, which is what Comcast advertises. I will have to find another ISP because I can't continue to perform my job with a cable system as incompetent and unreliable as Comcast.

I had the same problem as you, switched from comcast (8meg at that, which went down in the low 300kBs at night) to SBC/ATT --- same thing happened! I'm a happy dslextreme customer now, so check them out!
